Modified Bitumen/Cap Sheet Roof System 

D. Flexible Flashings

1. Sheet Flashing: Modified bitumen; DynaFlex manufactured by JM. Flashing specifications as listed in the current JM Commercial/Industrial Roofing Systems Manual.

E. Cants

1. Perlite Cant and Tapered Edge Strips: FesCant Plus Perlite Board, flame resistant, preformed to 45 degree (0.79 rad.) angle supplied by JM; Tapered Fesco Edge Strip.

F. Accessories

1. Roofing Nails: Galvanized or non-ferrous type, length as required to suit application.

2. Traffic Pads: JM DynaTred.

3. Premium No. 12 hexhead fastener coated for superior corrosion resistance. JM UltraFast with UltraFast Locking Plastic Plates

or UltraFast Galvalume Metal Plates.

4. Prefabricated Expansion Joint Covers: EPDM sheet attached to sheet metal flanges with a bifurcated crimp, with a closed cell polyethylene foam backer; Expand-O-Flash.

5. Roof Drains: Drain having an integral flexible Neoprene bellows and the drain body composed of PPO engineering resin. Drain capable of accommodating 1" (25 mm) movement in all directions; JM Flex-I-Drain.

III. PRODUCTS

   A. Examination

1. Verify that surfaces and site conditions are ready to receive work.

2. Verify that deck is supported and secured.

3. Verify that deck is clean and smooth, free of depressions, irregularities, or projections, properly sloped to drains, valleys or eaves.

4. [Verify that adjacent pre-cast concrete roof members do not vary more than 1/4 inch (6 mm) in height].

5. Verify that deck surfaces are dry and free of dirt and debris.

6. Verify that roof openings, curbs, pipes, sleeves, ducts, and vents through roof are solidly set, and reglets [Wood cant strips] [Wood nailing strips] are in place.

7. Start of work means installer accepts existing substrate.

   B. Protection

                   1. Protect building surfaces against damage from roofing work.

   C. Preparation – Wood Deck

1. Verify flatness and joint openings of wood decking. [Fill knot holes with latex filler.] [Cover holes with sheet metal.] [ OR ]

   D. Preparation – Concrete Deck

1. Fill surface honeycomb and variations with latex filler.

2. Prime entire surface with concrete primer at the rate of 1 gal per 100 square feet (0.41 liters/m2).

E. Preparation – Metal Deck

1. [Install preformed sound absorbing glass fiber insulation strips supplied by Section 05311 in acoustic deck flutes. Install in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.]

2. Verify that all units are properly secured in place.
