Roof Insulations

½" Retro-Fit® Roof Insulation sec904a.gif (413 bytes)

Description

½" Retro-Fit Board is a high density board made of expanded perlite and cellulosic fibers. It serves as an upgrade for wood fiber utility roofing products. The top surface is sealed with TopLoc coating to ensure optimum attachment in asphaltic applications. The TopLoc coating gives Retro-Fit Board a smoother surface for easier application of hot asphalt or cold adhesives.

Application

½" Retro-Fit Board is a perlite-based utility board for use as a divorcing layer in reroofing and in new construction as a top layer in a multi-layer insulation system. It may be applied with hot asphalt, cold adhesive or mechanical fasteners. It is not recommended for use directly over steel decks.

Sizes

2' x 4' (0.61 m x 1.22 m), 4' x 4' (1.22 m x 1.22 m) and 4' x 8' (1.22 m x 2.44 m), with a nominal thickness of ½" (13 mm).

Advantages

Environmentally Friendly. The minimum recycled content is 35% by weight.

½ " Retro-Fit Board complies with Environmental Protection Agency Regulation 40 CFR Part 248, Guideline for Federal Procurement of Building Insulation Products Containing Recovered Materials, as a recycled product approved for use on any project using federal funds.

Strength and Durability. When applied over rigid decks, ½ " Retro-Fit Board’s high laminar tensile strength resists damage from on-the-job and maintenance traffic, offers an excellent substrate for all roofing membranes.

Dimensional Stability. Because of its perlite composition and low water absorption rates, ½" Retro-Fit Board is dimensionally stable over a wide range of weather conditions.

Fire Resistance. ½" Retro-Fit Board has excellent fire resistance and is approved for use in FM and UL approved constructions. Because of its perlite content, ½ " Retro-Fit Board offers far greater fire resistance than conventional wood fiber materials.

Mopping Surface. ½" Retro-Fit Board provides an excellent base to receive a built-up or modified bitumen membrane. It has excellent compatibility with hot asphalt.

Good Adhesion. The top surface of ½ " Retro-Fit Board is sealed with TopLoc coating to control the penetration of mopping asphalt, helping to ensure proper adhesion of the roofing membrane.

Stable R-Value. ½ " Retro-Fit Board has a stable R-value because it is composed of inorganic and fibrous materials.
