Applicable Standards

Factory Mutual

Fesco Foam has a Factory Mutual (FM) Class 1 fire rating and 90 to 180 wind-resistance ratings with numerous BUR and modified bitumen constructions. This testing is specific to the roof deck, insulation, fastener, fastener pattern and the membrane. For current information on JM Factory Mutual approved systems, contact a JM Technical Service Specialist, Sales Representative or consult the current FM Approval Guide.

Underwriters Laboratories

Fesco Foam is classified by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) and Underwriters Laboratories Canada as an approved insulation for numerous Class A roof constructions. Contact JM for more details regarding specific approvals.

Fesco Foam is listed by UL for use in Construction Numbers 1, 2, 157 and 158. See the current UL Roofing Materials and Systems Directory.

UL Fire-Rated Assemblies

Fesco Foam is listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. for use in fire-rated assembly design numbers P225, P230, P259, P508, P510, P514, P701, P710, P713, P717, P718, P719, P720, P722, P723, P724, P727, P728, P729, P730, P734, P735, P739, P801, P814, P815, P818, P819 and P828. See current UL Fire Resistance Directory.

Other Approvals

Fesco Foam complies with the requirements of ASTM C 1289 and CCMC 12786-R.

Fesco Foam has been approved by numerous municipalities including Dade County, FL and California State Insulation Quality Standards and Title 25 Foam Flammability Criteria. Fesco Foam also meets the requirements of BOCA, ICBO, SBCCI and others.

Because this insulation complies with both FM 4450 and 4470 when tested in roof membrane assemblies, and is listed as a FM Class 1 roof insulation, there is no requirement for the "½" (13 mm) gypsum wallboard or equivalent thermal barrier," when applied in steel deck roofing applications to meet code requirements (e.g., SBCCI, BOCA, ICBO, etc.). The local code official does have final discretion for approval of roof assemblies. Fire-rated roof/ceiling assemblies ("P" designs) may require the use of a thermal barrier.

Federal Specifications

Fesco Foam meets the physical property requirements specified in Federal Specification HH-I-1972/Gen and HH-I-1972/3.

JM insulation products must be protected from open flame and kept dry at all times. Install only as much insulation as can be covered the same day by completed roof covering material. JM will not be responsible for specific building and roof design by others, for deficiencies in construction or workmanship, for dangerous conditions on the job site or for improper storage and handling.Technical specifications as shown in this literature are intended to be used as general guidelines only. Consult JM for detailed specifications.
