SECTION 080305
PART 1: GENERAL
1.01 DESCRIPTION
Bidding requirements,
conditions of the contract and pertinent portions of sections in Division One of these
specifications, apply to the section as fully as though repeated herein.
Work under this section
includes furnishing and installing access panels.

1.02 SUBMITTALS
Submit product data under
provisions of Section 01300, 01340.
Include sizes, types,
finishes, scheduled locations, and details of adjoining work.

1.03 DELIVERY
Package, handle, deliver and
store access panels at the project site in a manner that will avoid damage.

2.02 MATERIAL -
Refer to manufacturer's specification data for specific design criteria.
L-FRAP/L-FRAPSS:
1. U.L. Laboratories: 1-1/2
hour rated for two hour wall systems, calls B, heat transmission less than 250 degrees
after 30 minutes, U.L. File No. R1306.
2. Warnock Hersey: 1 hour
combustible and three hour non-combustible ceiling/floor systems. File WHI-495-PSH-0181
and WHI-495-PSH-0182.
L-MP/L
MPSS: Multi-purpose access
panel for use in plaster, drywall and certain ceiling surfaces.
L-DWA: For installation of 5/8" sheetrock or
5/8" drywall before the board is up.
L-DWB: To be installed in sheetrock or drywall
after the board is up.
L-DWC:
Designed for flush installation in
drywall surfaces, utilizing a concealed type frame after taping and mudding.
L-LCP: Designed to provide large access openings in
suspended type "T Bar" ceiling systems, drywall ceilings and walls.
L-PSW:
For use in plaster surfaces, concealed frame with optional plaster ground.
L-APC: Recessed door pan with metal lath for plaster
surfaces.
L-CPA:
Recessed 1" door pan for acoustical tile or drywall.
L-CPB:
Recessed 1" door pan for acoustical tile or drywall.
L-DPM: Medium Security access panel for multipurpose
applications.
LDPH: High Security access panels for use in high
security areas.
2.03 FABRICATION
Furnish as necessary each
access panel assembly manufactured complete with all parts reedy for installation.
PART 3: EXECUTION
3.01 INSPECTION
Verify that wall and ceiling
openings are correctly dimensioned to receive walls.
3.02 INSTALLATION
Install according to
manufacturers instruction.
3.03 ADJUST AND CLEAN
Adjust latch and lock
mechanisms to operate smoothly.
