LMCURBS is also a national distributor of the S-5!TM SNOW GUARD SYSTEM which offers two unique concepts to provide snow retention systems on standing seam roofs. Both the S-5! SNOFENCETM system and the S-5! COLORGARDTM system can attach to a vertical or horizontal standing seam roof and can be installed any time of the year. However, the S-5!TM clamps are not designed for a batten or cap type standing seam roof.

The S-5! SNOFENCETM is an exceptional choice for a snow retention system when a color match is not required. This system uses a S-5-A clamp that attaches to the standing seam without piercing the panel. Depending on the standing seam profile, the S-5-A clamp has up to a 1,400 lb. holding strength. All components are made from stainless steel and tempered aluminum.

A variety of snow retention assemblies can be constructed using S-5! components. The S-5-A clamp should be spaced a maximum of 24" on center (it may also be placed closer in severe situations). The SNOROD inserted through the S-5-A clamps will be positioned just above the panel seams. When installed on panels with taller seam heights, the addition of the SNOCLIP may be desired to prevent the movement of snow beneath the SNOROD. The SNOPOST when threaded into the S-5-A clamp provides for the addition of a second SNOROD, about 2" above the first, to create the SNOFENCE. The S-5-AE, and SNOPOSTE (end) are used at the rate of one per 48’ of assembly, and at the end of the assembly to "Fix" the SNOROD and prevent its lateral movement. The S-5! clamp attaches to the roof panel seam by tensioning the bullet nosed set screws against the seam material. The set screws will "dimple" but not pierce the panel seam. The clamp is specially designed for versatility in a variety of applications. It will fit either vertically or horizontally oriented standing seams-architectural or low slope structural panels, having a finished seam thickness of .40" or less. It may not be suitable for use on some applied cap type seams. As any device which attaches to panel without "pinning" to the substrate or building structure, loads on the S-5! will be transferred to the panels. Panels must be adequately attached to the building structure at their pinned location to resist these loads (which is prudent practice in any event). The S-5-A Clamp has been lab tested for tensile load- to-failure on various panel seams. Load results vary with seam type panel material type, thickness, and physical properties. Please inquire for test report data. Components are available in Tumbled Mill Finish Aluminum and Satin Clear Anodized.

Disclaimer: Note that the set screws must be torqued to 115" lbs. with a screw gun and checked periodically during installation. LMCurbs is under no obligation if a failure occurs from an improper design or installation. This information is not meant to fit every application. For severe applications, call 1-800-284-1412 to discuss your particular situation.

The S-5! COLORGARDTM provides an excellent choice for a snow retention system when a color match is required. By utilizing a color strip with Kynar 500® or Hylar 5000® will keep it color matched for 20 years. The color strip is the roof material sheared to 2 1/16" x 96" long with a material thickness up to .050". The S-5! COLORGARDTM bar attaches to a S-5-UHD clamp, that mounts to the standing seam without piercing the panel. The S-5-UHD has an average holding strength of 2,400 lb. per clamp. (Depending on standing seam profile).

Now you can color match the best snow retention system available to any standing seam roof. Any seam height. Structural or architectural; vertical seam orientation or horizontal; site formed or factory formed panel--It’s easy with COLORGARD from S-5!. What’s more, the exact match is guaranteed to last for the life of the metal roof material. How is this possible? COLORGARD is the metal roof material. That’s right, the same high quality prefinished material used for the roof is simply inserted into the COLORGARD snow bar to perfectly match the roof--forever! COLORGARD will accept any material thickness up to 0.050". The width of the strip is 2-1/16". Simply slide the pre-painted metal strip into the COLORGARD snow bar. COLORGARD is furnished in 8’ (nominal) lengths, with prepunched holes 4" on center for attachment to the S-5-U clamp. A splice piece is also furnished to facilitate end-to-end joining of adjacent sections while providing for linear expansion/contraction of the finished assembly. COLORGARD mounts to the S-5-UHD (Heavy Duty Utility Clamp) with the stainless steel bolt provided. the S-5-U clamp attaches to the standing seam of the panel by tightening the stainless set screws with an Allen wrench attachment to any commercial screw gun. The special stainless steel, round nosed screw developed by the makers of S-5 will slightly dimple, but not cut or pierce the panel seam material. For maximum holding strength, set screws should be tightened and sequentially retightened as the seam material compresses.
