THE BEAUTY OF LOW MAINTENANCE.
The demand for attractive, low maintenance windows and doors is increasing. And your reputation is on the
line every time you specify a low-maintenance product. To help you meet this demand and to give you a high
degree of confidence, Marvin provides the highest performing standard clad coating system in the industry The
finish will last and last.
A DURABLE COATING THAT INSPIRES CONFIDENCE
At least three factors affect how the coating on a clad window or door will perform against the elements.
These include the foundation substrate to which it is applied, the quality of the coating and the process by which
the coating is applied.
Marvin uses extruded aluminum as a foundation substrate. Depending on the product, its thickness ranges
from .050" to .065". It's important to note that all frame and sash aluminum components of a Marvin clad window
or door are extruded.

Combining different substrate materials on a window or door can lead to performance deviations overtime. For example, if the sash is
made from roll form aluminum and the frame is made from extruded aluminum, there is a chance that the parts will weather differently as
depicted in the photo.
Further, a heavier substrate material like extruded aluminum can better resist damage caused by the elements or by the occasional
abrasion and impacts that occur during installation.
Proper surface preparation is critical when it comes to obtaining a long-lasting finish. So, the
aluminum extrusions go through a rigorous five-step pretreatment of cleaners, rinses and chromic
acid surface preparations. This process ensures that the weather-resistant primer and colorfast
topcoat go on smoothly and permanently.
