1. Set your windows in a dry protected area prior to installation. It is very important to install your Marvin products as soon after delivery as possible so the interior and exterior can be finished.

2. A proper installation is critical to performance of the product - it should be done by a competent and experienced person, in accordance with our instructions.

3.  Before finishing, bare wood surfaces must be clean and dry. Remove handling marks, debris or effects of exposure to moisture by sanding lightly with 3/0 or 5/0 sandpaper and clean before applying finish.

4. For exterior painting; use only a high quality  base or latex paint. Apply one coat of primer (if not factory primed) and two coats of top quality paint.

NOTE: Do not paint over the top finishes without proper instructions from Marvin. We do not recommend the use of stain on exterior wood surfaces.

5. For interior painting follow the same procedure.

6. For interior staining, apply stain according to manufacturer's instructions. When the stain is dry,
apply at least two coats of varnish.

7. CAUTION: When applying paint and other finish to windows and doors, it is extremely important that you do not paint weatherstripping important that you do not paint weatherstripping, vinyl, plastic, or other non-wood parts, doorsills, pile weather-stripping hardware, handles, rollers, etc.; or any surface which has an abrasive or sliding contact with another surface. Paints, stains, and varnishes contain solvents which cause plastics and vinyls to dry out and become brittle. Once brittle, they will need to be replaced.
