At McGee, each piece of structural steel is run through our "shot blaster" (blast cleaning machined which scours and removes all rust oxidation, loose mill scale and oily film from the steel surface. Utilizing precisely controlled and directed abrasive material which is dispersed at a high velocity via internal rotating blades, steel emerges from the shot blaster with a clean and properly prepared surface ready for prime coating. This blast cleaning procedure enhances and lengthens prime coating adhesion to the steel reducing the natural corrosion process resulting from exposure to the weather elements.
