Calif. Arts & Crafts Tiles General Information - Page 32

GENERAL INFORMATION

California Arts and Crafts

These handsome tiles were inspired by the art pottery and ceramic tiles produced during the Arts and Crafts movement in California in the period from the mid-1890's to the 1930's. A principal tenant of the movement was the belief that the union of hand, head and heart in handcraft yielded therapeutic value. We heartily agree. These tiles, used in a suitable environment, will provide a warm and comforting surface treatment.

All the glazes featured in this series feature a warm and buttery surface texture. They feel good to the touch. The colors are drawn from nature: mossy greens, deep forest greens, rich earthen browns and blues and greens from the ocean and sky. Glazes in this series feature a wider range of color variation. Many glazes are matte finished and some are glossy. They are very hard and suitable for use on counters, floors, fireplaces and hearths.

This tile is vitreous and may be used in wet or frosty applications. The clay body is softly textured and all edges are relieved.

Glaze names: Drawn from period personalities and California towns and villages. Check Glaze List for glaze names, hardness and crazing.

Tile sizes offered: 2 x 2, 2 x 4, 2 x 6, 3 x 3, 4 x 4 and 6 x 6.

Trim available: SBN is available on textured field tiles. Extruded shapes such as Cove, Quarter-Round, V-Cap are from the standard McIntyre line. Trim shapes are not textured as are the field tiles.
