Introduction
Norton Series 1601/1601
BF door closers combine rugged durability, optimum control of swinging doors and a
complete range of spring power adjustment. Hydraulic control and spring power adjustments
are easily made right at the door.
Together these features help achieve the opening force
requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), ANSI 117.1 National Handicapped
Codes, as well as the industry's most demanding performance criteria, ANSI 156.4-Grade 1.
You can find no better door control for commercial or
industrial aluminum, hollow metal or wood doors. Most 1601/1601 BF closers are tri-packed
for regular, parallel or top jamb mounting and are non-handed so they will provide
excellent control on virtually all applications right out of the box.
Non-critical, independent valves allow precision adjustment
of sweep speed, latching speed, back check or delayed action. The same "easy
turn" hex key adjustment allows you to increase or decrease the spring power to suit
the opening.
Norton Series 1601 SS and 1601 BF-SS are fabricated
with stainless steel and non-ferrous components making them ideal for installation where
resistance to corrosion is important.

Ordering
Note: Norton Series 1601 BF door closers will meet the
requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act (A.D.A.), and will comply with
industry standards for opening and closing forces as established by the Builders Hardware
Manufacturing Association (B.H.M.A.).
Packing
Series 1601 Door Closers are normally packed for Tri-Style
installation one to a box. Included are the closer, appropriate arm for Regular Arm or Top
Jamb mounting, for reveals up to 3" (76 mm), soffit plate for Parallel Arm mounting,
a hex key for control valve adjustment, installation instructions, and both wood screws
and machine screws for mounting. Hold-Open-Arm closers will also include a hold open
adjustment wrench.
When ordered specifically for Top Jamb deep reveals, Parallel Arm
with special soffit plate, Parallel Rigid Arm, or Marrow Profile Arm, or Corrosion
Resistant, closers are supplied with that specific type of mounting hardware only.
Special Fasteners
Thru-bolts and grommet nuts (TBGN) or sex-nuts (SN) are available to
order.
