*Pairs of input lines required to supply Operating Voltage or Voltages to the unit. Pairs listed do not include signal wires to Alarm Panels nor control wires to other units' solenoids.

Operating Voltage or Voltages for the control of fire/smoke doors are specified by the architect, electrical engineer and alarm system engineer and/or contractor. Consulting with these sources will verify which operating voltage(s) should be ordered.

"PTD" Master Units have two components which require electrical power; the Integral Smoke Detector will always require 24VDC input power; the Hold-Open Solenoid can require either 24VDC input or 120VDC input. A third component, the hook-up box, receives all primary voltage inputs and distributes them to the smoke detector and the hold open solenoid.

"PTD" Master Units are available with three voltage options:

  • With PTD-24 suffix - Unit will accept either 24VAC or 24VDC power input. A rectifier in the hook-up box will rectify alternating current to direct current for operation of both the smoke detector and hold-open solenoid.
  • With PTD-120 suffix - Unit will accept 120VAC power input. A 120VAC to 24VAC transformer in the hook-up box steps the input voltage down to 24VAC . It is then recified to 24VDC for operation of both the smoke detector and the hold-open solenoid.

"PTD" Master Units Voltage Options (cont.)

  • With PTD-24D x 120 suffix - Unit must receive 24VAC or 24VDC power input. A rectifier in the hook-up box will rectify alternating current to direct current for operation of the smoke detector. Unit must also receive a 120VAC power input from a separate circuit. It is then rectified in the hook-up box to 120VDC to operate the hold-open solenoid.

Slave Units (PTS suffix) have only a hold-open solenoid which requires electrical power. They are only available with an operating voltage of 24VDC since they are only installed when they are controlled directly by the integral Smoke Detector of the Master Unit.

Support Units (PT-24 or PT-120 suffix) similarly have only a hold-open solenoid which requires electrical power. These solenoids are controlled by Smoke Detection Equipment or remote Alarm Panels. They can be ordered for operation on 24 Volt AC/DC or 120VAC, 60Hz. Support Units ( PT-24 or PT-120 suffixes ) have their hold-open solenoid operating on direct current. They have built-in rectifier that converts alternating current to direct current.
