Norton Series 7700 Door Closures - Page 5

Yale Security Inc.

FEATURES

Adjustable Backcheck Positioning: An independent valve, hex-key-operated, allows adjustment of the point, in the door's opening cycle, at which backcheck cushioning takes effect. It provides a range of 20° within which each backcheck can be set. The exact range is dependent upon the arm application and templated position of the closer.

Non-Critical Valves: All control valves for sweep/latch speed and backcheck control are non-critical and are adjusted by a standard 1/8" hex-key.

Adjusta-Power Shoe: Supplied as standard for a 15% (±7-1/2%) power adjustment by relocating the forearm at the shoe, for all regular arm and top jamb non-hold-open closers, only.

Narrow Profile Arm: Series 7780 closers are supplied with a narrow profile arm for non-hold-open installations. It permits regular arm installation where the minimum ceiling clearance is 1" (25 mm) and the reveal does not exceed 1/8" (3 mm); it can be installed top jamb with a drop plate where the minimum top rail of the door is 3-5/8" (92 mm) and the frame reveal does not exceed 3" (76 mm): or it can be mounted parallel arm to raise the closer body 1/2" (13 mm) higher on the top rail of the door than the standard 7700 series closer arm will permit. Order Series 7780.

Non-Hold-Open Arm: Standard closer will be supplied with a Non-Hold-Open arm. This arm is non-handed.

Hold-Open Arm: Closer has adjustable hold-open feature (90° to 180°). This arm is non-handed. Order by suffixing "H" to the Catalog Number.

Fusible-Link Hold-Open Arm: Adjustable Hold-Open Arm (90° to 180°) available for fire door applications. The heat of a fire causes the fusible-link to melt, and releases the door from Hold-Open. Fusible-Links have different melting points: 125°F (52°C) is standard, 135°F (57°C) or 160°F (71 °C) are available to order. This arm is handed, specify hand of door on the order. Order by suffixing "HFL" to the Catalog Number.

Parallel Rigid Arm: Closer supplied with a heavy-duty rigid forearm for applications where heavy traffic, and heavy use are anticipated. Order by prefixing "PR" to the Catalog Number. The Non-Hold-Open Parallel Rigid arm is non-handed. Also available in Hold-Open and Fusible-Link Hold-Open arms, which are handed. Order by suffixing "H" or "HFL" to the Catalog Number.

Molded Cover: Supplied as standard for all closers, this cover is fabricated of high-impact UL listed material for covering the closer and mounting screws. This cover is non-handed except for top jamb installations since the shaft cutout must be factory prepared. Specify hand of door for top jamb installations.

Metal Cover: An optional cover is available with either a plated or sprayed finish. This cover is non-handed except for top jamb installations since the shaft cutout must be factory prepared. Order Series 7700M closers and specify hand of door for top jamb installations.

Wood Laminated Cover: An optional metal cover that is laminated with fine-grained domestic or imported woods. It is supplied unfinished so it can be finished on the job with the door and frame. This cover is non-handed except for top jamb installations since the shaft cutout must be factory prepared. Order Series 7700W closers and specify the hand of door for top jamb installations.

Special Feature Closers

Adjustable Delayed Action Closing: An optional hydraulic feature, available in place of backcheck cushioning and backcheck positioning, that adds a third speed range to the closing control cycle. This feature becomes effective when the door is opened and released at any point beyond 70°. This delayed closing enables traffic to clear the opening before the normal closing cycle starts. This feature is advantageous to the handicapped and elderly. It is also valuable for wheeled or other traffic where delayed closing is desirable.

Where hold-open applications are desirable, Norton Holder-Stop or Unitrol type controls with single-point hold-open are recommended. Order by suffixing "DA" to the Catalog No.

Telephone Booth Operation: Closer does not close door completely; door is held ajar approximately 5° from the closed position, occupant must close the door from this position. Available in size 2 only. See page 7700-16 for details. Order Series 7700-TEL.

Coupon Booth Hold-Open: Closer function is designed for application on safe deposit box inspection cubicles. Holds door open at 15° to indicate cubicle is unoccupied. Available in sizes 2 and 3 only. For details, see page 7700-17. Order Series 7700-COUP and specify hand of door.

Hospital Hold-Open: Closer will hold door open at approximately 15° for ventilation, 45° for observation and beyond 90° for full access. Available in sizes 3 and 4 only. For details, see page 7700-17. Order Series 7700-HOSP and specify hand of door.
