SPECIAL FEATURE CLOSERS
Coupon Booth Hold-Open:
Most commonly used on doors to safe deposit box inspection
cubicles. Closer holds the door to the coupon booth open at 15° to indicate that the
booth is available for use by a safe-deposit-box renter. When the door is opened, the
closer will close the door and engage the lock, providing the occupant with the desired
privacy. When the occupant is finished with the booth, the closer will again close the
door and engage the lock. The attendant with a key can then open the door, examine the
booth for articles left in error and reset the door at 15° opening.

Hold-Open is accomplished by a spring-loaded roller and a
detent in a cam. The roller is attached to the bottom of the closer; the cam is attached
to the bottom pinion shaft.

When the door is opened to 15°, the roller engages the
detent and holds the door. Spring tension of the roller is adjusted by a 5/32"
hex-key. Spring tension can be set to just hold the door when opened to 15°. Yet, when
the door is opened fully and released, the inertia of closing will prevent the roller from
stopping at the 15° hold-open.
Available in sizes 2 and 3 only for regular arm, top jamb
or parallel arm application. Specify hand.
Hospital Hold-Open:
Closer will hold the door open at approximately 15° for
ventilation, 45° for observation and beyond 90° for full access.

Closer is supplied with a standard hold-open arm for the
beyond 90° hold-open position. The 15° and 45° hold-open position is accomplished by a
spring loaded roller and two detents in a cam.
The roller is attached to the bottom of the closer: the cam
is attached to the bottom pinion shaft.

When the door is opened to 15°, the roller engages the
first detent and holds the door. When the door is opened to 45°, the roller engages the
second detent and holds the door. The standard hold-open arm can be adjusted to hold the
door at any degree beyond 90°. Spring tension of the roller is adjusted by a 5/32"
hex-key. Spring tension can be set high enough so it will engage the detents in the cam
when the door is opened beyond 70° and released. Or it can be set low enough that the
inertia of the closing door will not engage the detents and allow the door to close
completely when it is released.
Available in sizes 3 and 4 only for regular arm, top jamb
or parallel arm application. Specify hand. |
