Introduction

Norton^® Series 8000 door closers have been designed to offer a wide choice of application flexibility. They are available as:

A Basic Feature Closer Series with independent adjustable sweep and latch speed controls. Adjustable backcheck cushioning only or adjustable delayed action closing with adjustable backcheck cushioning available as an option.

A Full Feature Closer Series. This series also incorporates independent sweep and latch speed adjustments. In addition, adjustable spring power and adjustable backcheck cushioning are standard features. Adjustable delayed action closing is available as an option in addition to the adjustable backcheck cushioning feature.

Each of the two series -- Basic Feature closer or Full Feature closer -- can be ordered without a cover, with a Slim Style cover or with a Full cover by selecting the proper series Catalog Number.

Norton also offers a Multi-Size Door Closer Series which features adjustable spring power thru a range of sizes. Series 8301/8501 has adjustable power in the Normal Power Range of sizes 2 thru 6. Series 8301 BF/8501 BF Accessibility Code Closers feature adjustable power range from size 1 thru 4. These closers offer low opening resistance for handicapped accessibility but still provide acceptable door control. For details, see Section 8301/8501 -

Finishes

Sprayed Finishes -- All Norton Series 8000 Door Closers and Accessories are available in the following sprayed finishes. Order sprayed finishes by the Norton Symbol.

*Available at extra cost. Closers can be ordered prime coated only, i.e. (SRI), or prime coated with finish coat, i.e. (SRI) x (DB).

Wood Finishes -- Series 8400W/8500W closers are available with steel covers with an unfinished wood lamination. The cover may be used unfinished, or it may be finished at the job site, along with the door and frame.

Plated Finishes -- Series 8000M closers with steel covers are available, at extra cost, in the following plated finishes:

Plated finishes must be ordered by the Norton finish symbols listed. Where a matching of other door hardware finish is required, a sample finish chip must be submitted and approved, prior to order processing.

For Plated Cover only, specify Norton Finish Symbol; the arm will be supplied in a complementary sprayed finish: i.e. 8503M closer x US3.

For Plated Arm and Cover, specify Norton Finish Symbol and add "Arm and Cover" to Closer Catalog Number: i.e. 8503M closer x arm and cover x US3.
