GENERAL INFORMATION

Series 9300

The Norton Series 9300 door closer is made in the U.S.A., at Norton's Monroe, North Carolina manufacturing facility. It is a durable, economically priced door closer designed for commercial exterior and interior doors such as store front and industrial applications. It is especially popular as a replacement unit for door closers such as Parker 500, Taco Brute 50, International 50 and Jackson 70.

The 9300 is sized 2, 3, 4 and 5 and is bi-packed for regular arm or top jamb installation. In addition, the P9300 is available for parallel arm installation. The Series 9300 door closer is UL listed and backed by a 5 year limited warranty. Backcheck is offered as an option and hold open is available.

Features

Non-Handed

Pinion shaft extends vertically through the closer body in both directions. This permits the closer to be positioned on either right or left hand doors for all applications. A cap conceals the closer shaft not in use.

Rack & Pinion Construction

Provides a smooth transmission of power, for control of the door through its full opening and closing cycle.

Adjustable Sweep/Latch Speed

A dual purpose regulating valve that permits adjustment of both sweep and latch speed.

Adjustable Backcheck Cushioning

Available as an option; provides an adjustable hydraulic cushion to the door's opening speed at approximately 70° of the opening cycle.

Non-Hold Open Arm

Standard closer will be supplied with a Non-Hold Open arm. This arm is nonhanded. (Arm Assembly see page 4.)

Adjusta Power Shoe

Supplied as standard for a 15% (±7-1/2%) power adjustment by relocating the forearm at the shoe, for regular arm and top jamb non-hold open installations.

Hold Open Arm

Closer arm has adjustable hold open feature (90° to 180°). This arm is nonhanded. Order by suffixing "H" to the catalog number. (Arm Assembly see page 4.)

ANSI/BHMA Federal Specifications

The 9300 is designated as a Grade 3 Modern Type Surface Door Closer (CO3000 w/o PT 4A-4D) under FF-H-121D federal specifications and ANSI A 156.4.

U.L. Listing

All Norton Series 9300 Door Closers with non-hold open arms are listed by Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc. for use on labeled fire doors.

Packaging Information

Series 9300 Door Closers are packed for regular arm or top jamb installation. They are supplied one to a box. Included are the closer, appropriate arm for regular arm or top jamb mounting for reveals up to 2-7/8" (73mm), installation instructions and both wood and machine screws for mounting. Hold Open arm closers will also include a hold open adjustment wrench.

When ordered specifically for parallel arm mounting closers are supplied with that specific type of mounting hardware only.

Available Finishes

Sprayed Finishes - All Norton Series 9300 Door Closers are available in the listed sprayed finishes. Order sprayed finishes by the Norton Symbol.

Special Fasteners

Thru bolts and grommet nuts (TBGN) or sex nuts (SN) are available to order.
