GENERAL INFORMATION

Adjustable Sweep Speed: All Norton Door Closers have this door closing sweep speed control. Adjustable by an independent valve, marked "S."

Adjustable Latch Speed: All Norton Door Closers have this door latching speed control. It is adjustable by an independent valve, marked "L."

U.L. Listing: CloserPlus Door Controls, without hold-open feature, are listed by Underwriters' Laboratories Inc,, and Underwriters' Laboratories of Canada for use on labeled fire doors.

Non-Handed: Norton CloserPlus Door Controls are non-handed; they can be installed either on right or left hand doors. The positive stop can be rotated at installation to accommodate the hand of the door.

Adjustable Delayed Action Closing: Optional hydraulic control of the door closing speed, effective when door is released at any point beyond 70 of opening swing. Brings open door to a creeping motion before the standard closing cycle begins. Permits passage of slow moving traffic thru doorway. This feature is in lieu of backcheck cushioning in CloserPlus Door Controls using Norton Series 1600 Door Closers.

Available at extra cost. Closers can be ordered prime coated only, i.e. (SRI), or prime coated with finish coat, i.e. (SRI) x (DB).

Plated Finishes

Closer covers may be ordered in plated finishes for series available with full metal covers. Arm and accessories will be supplied in a complementary sprayed finish.

Plated finishes must be ordered by the Norton finish symbols listed. If required to match other door hardware finish, a sample finish chip must be submitted and approved, prior to order processing.

Wood Finishes

Norton Series CloserPlus Door Controls that are available with optional Wood Laminated Cover are supplied with an unfinished wood laminate bonded to a full metal cover. The cover may be used unfinished, or it may be finished at the job site, along with the door and frame.

These covers are available in the following finegrained woods:

Flat Cut Oak White Birch
Teak Flat Cut Walnut
Cherry Honduras Mahogany

Suggested Specification

Door closers for all (interior) (exterior) doors shall have hydraulic backcheck, shall provide (opening and) closing control cushioning starting at a point in the opening of the doors. (selectable hold-open capability) and built-in door stop effective at one point selected at installation from the range 85°-110° in five-degree increments. Door closers shall be rigid steel main and secondary arms. Door closer mechanisms shall have full hydraulic control and full rack-and-pinion action contained within aluminum alloy housings. Hydraulic fluid shall be non-gumming and non freezing.

Independent hex-key driven regulating screws shall permit non-critical adjustment of all hydraulic valves. (Door closers shall have hydraulic backcheck cushioning starting at a point in the opening cycle before the mechanical door stop). Door closers shall permit controlling door closing speed with (delayed action), sweep, and latch hydraulic valves. Door closers shall be (of conventional ANSI sizes, applied according to the manufacturer's recommendation) (adjustable multi-size in compliance with A.D.A. opening resistance parameters).(Hold-open mechanism shall have engage/disengage selection actuated by (thumbturn) (hex-key).) Door closers shall not be non-handled, with self aligning physical door stop. (Doorclosersshallbeenclosedin[molded Slim Style] [molded full] [plated metal full] [wood veneer laminated metal full] covers). Door closers shall be Norton CloserPlus Door Controls.
