CASEMENT WINDOWS

CLASSIC LOOK TAKES CENTER STAGE IN TOWN CENTER

zpel013a.jpg (50372 bytes)
With its winning design for the Leesburg Government Center, Hanno Weber & Associates answered the challenge of consolidating town offices without destroying the scale of the surrounding historic district.

More than 200 architectural firms submitted designs for the Leesburg, Virginia, Government Center. Hanno Weber & Associates of Chicago not only bested all competition, their design has captured other kudos, including an AIA Urban Design Award. According to ARCHITECTURE magazine, juries applaud the center's "unobtrusive siting, small-town poetics and uncluttered streetscape." * The centerpiece of the complex is an octagonal tower housing a ground-floor lobby and second-floor town council meeting room featuring two dramatic, six-foot round Pella® windows, a reference to Colonial Williamsburg. Square windows surround the pitched ceiling in the council chambers. Public spaces inside the building are replete with moldings and windows with muntins. Flaking the tower is a three-story block of town offices and a pair of pedestrian-friendly village greens. Says architect Hanno Weber, "Pella was the only manufacturer able to supply the large TDL** [True Divided Light] metal clad windows called for -- at least, the only one willing to provide and guarantee them."
