OUT-SWING COMMERCIAL DOORS

LET THE (FUN AND) GAMES BEGIN!

After the basketball game, Charlotte fans find a relaxing atmosphere at Jocks & Jills Sports Grill, designed by Atlanta architects Darin Stockdale and Francis Allegret.

When four professional basketball stars got together with Atlanta architect Darin Stockdale, the result was a restaurant and bar with a winning atmosphere. Jocks & Jills Sports Grill is located appropriately (and profitably) across from Charlotte Coliseum, home of Charlotte's pro basketball team. "The Olympics were coming," comments Stockdale, "so we chose an Olympic theme,"   based on classic Greek architectural elements: "heavy Corinthian columns, colonnades and whatnot," including Pella® clad frame casements topped with circleheads, and Pella® commercial out-swing doors, with their tough EnduraClad finish to stand up to heavy traffic.

The original thought was an all-aluminum "storefront" window and door application, but when Pella bid the job with clad/wood for a competitive price, it was no contest. Cladding on both the commercial out-swing doors and the windows assures low maintenance and complements the brick exterior. Inside, the warmth of the wood interiors of the Pella windows, combined with the brick walls, creates a "relax and stay awhile" environment.
