CARRIAGE STYLES
Straddle Carriages
Pflow lift are normally designed to be loaded/unloaded from the
front or back (between columns). With Pflow straddle carriages the support columns are
placed on either side of the carriage. Straddle configuration balances the load on the
carriage and keeps column loads essentially in compression. Loads on guides and rollers
are minimal.
Cantilevered Carriage
If required by application, the carriage can be cantilevered to
allow loading/unloading from the side. With cantilevered carriages, the support columns
are placed on one side of the carriage to allow loading/unloading at 90º angles. This
requires heavier structure and guide wheel components. Carriage size and capacity are
limited by the unbalanced load condition. With large carriages or high capacity
applications, the carriage thickness is increased thereby requiring a deeper pit for
proper installation.
4-Post Carriage
If the load exceeds 6,000 lbs., Pflow provides 4-Post units in which
the carriage is cradled between guide columns at each corner. The carriage is lifted at
all four points. 4-Post carriages can be modified to be loaded/unloaded from any one of
four sides.
