PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
BAYFERROX® by QC CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS, formerly
COLORCRETE, are high quality pure synthetic iron oxide pigments for use in coloring ready
mixed and precast concrete. They contain no admixtures and are manufactured with the
strictest quality control standards. The synthetic iron oxide pigments used in BAYFERROX
by QC are manufactured by Bayer at its West Virginia production site. This is the newest,
largest, most advanced and most environmentally sound iron oxide production in North
America and has earned ISO 9002 certification. BAYFERROX by QC pure pigments conform to
ASTM C 979, except pigment CC80. CC80 is a high tinting strength carbon black and requires
special care (please refer to limitations). BAYFERROX by QC colors are packaged in 1,5 and
25 lb. disintegrating bags for exact cubic yard or cubic meter dosing. Also, BAYFERROX by
QC is available in 50 lb. non-disintegrating bulk bags. Either method can be utilized for
colored concrete flatwork applications, vertical concrete and precast concrete units.
BAYFERROX by QC may also be packaged in custom size bags upon request.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Please refer to Dosage Guidelines for proper dosing.
FOR READY MIX APPLICATION: The drum must be cleaned and approximately 2/3 (two-thirds) of
the mix water and 1/2 (one-half) of the aggregates needed should be added to the drum. The
proper combination of disintegrating bags or pre-weighed bulk BAYFERROX by QC should be
added to the drum and allowed to mix at charging speed for 2-3 minutes or until bags break
apart and pigment is distributed evenly. Add the balance of the ingredients (water,
aggregates, cement and admixtures), and mix at charging speed for 8-10 minutes (80-100
revolutions).
FOR PREMIX BATCHING: After 1/2 (one-half) the total batch has been
added to the ready mix drum, the proper combination of disintegrating bags or pre-weighed
bulk BAYFERROX by QC should be added. Add the remainder of the batch to the drum and
agitate at charging speed until the BAYFERROX by QC is completely dispersed throughout the
mix - about 8-10 minutes (80-100 revolutions).
FOR FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE: Fibers should be added after
BAYFERROX by QC pigments have disbursed.
Consistency of color of the cement, aggregates, slump, finishing
techniques and curing methods are critical in achieving uniformity of color. A 4 to 5 inch
slump is recommended. Required higher slumps should be achieved by using water-reducing or
plasticizing admixtures and NOT by adding water because this will adversely affect the
color. The use of QC COLOR CURE is recommended for curing most new colored architectural
concrete flatwork. QC CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS offers a full range of sealers for BAYFERROX
by QC.

| Maintenance |
It is highly recommended to develop and follow a
routine maintenance schedule for all colored concrete so that it will maintain a top
quality appearance. Every 18 to 36 months, colored concrete installations should be
inspected, cleaned and resealed as required by volume and intensity of traffic. The need
will vary depending on a number of factors including traffic conditions, geographical
location and weather. |
