PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
QC CEMSEAL is a water-based, 100% acrylic emulsion that can be used as both a base coat
for concrete and a topcoat for concrete, terrazzo and stone. Resistance to penetration by
oil, gasoline and water makes QC CEMSEAL the product of choice for driveways, garages and
any concrete floor where staining is a problem. QC CEMSEAL can be tinted to enhance
already colored concrete. Suitable for both interior and exterior use, QC CEMSEAL will not
yellow, haze or flake. QC CEMSEAL exceeds the Coefficient of Friction standards per ASTM D
2047-93 for slip resistance and complies with all USA VOC content standards.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
REDUCES WATER PERMEABILITY
PROTECTS CONCRETE FROM OIL, GASOLINE, DIRT AND OTHER STAINS
INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR SURFACES
INCREASES DURABILITY OF CONCRETE SURFACE
EXCELLENT AS TOPCOAT TO DUST-PROOF AND PROTECT CONCRETE, TERRAZZO AND STONE
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surface must be thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and allowed to dry. Use 1 part QC CONCRETE
DEGREASER to 8 parts water, and scrub with automatic scrubber or low-speed buffer equipped
with scrubbing pads or brushes. If applying over old sealer, paint or other coating, test
prior to application in an inconspicuous area to insure compatibility.
If efflorescence is present when sealing existing concrete, this can be an indication of
excessive hydrostatic pressure from moisture in or beneath the concrete. Before applying
QC CEMSEAL, determine if excessive moisture is present in the concrete by performing a
test according to ASTM D 4263-83(93). (Apply an 18" x 18" piece of 4 mil plastic
to the floor when dry, tape down with 2" duct tape, leave for at least 16 hours, then
remove plastic and examine. If moisture exists on the underside of the plastic or on the
surface of the concrete, there is moisture in the concrete. A penetrating sealer such as
QC CEMGUARD should be applied prior to the QC CEMSEAL.)
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Apply with a low pressure/high volume sprayer or pump-up sprayer, followed by smoothing
out with a piece of clean carpet, soft broom or short nap roller. For small areas, a mop
can be used. Coverage will vary; approximately 400 - 600 square feet per gallon (37.2 -
55.7 sq. m per 3.8 L) for rough finish for a single coat, 600 - 1,200 square feet per
gallon (55.7 - 111.5 sq. m per 3.8 L) for smooth finish for a single coat. Do not allow QC
CEMSEAL to puddle; it is better to apply two thin coats than one heavy coat. For
acceptable oil, water and gasoline resistance, a minimum of two coats must be applied.
Allow each coat to dry thoroughly before applying subsequent coats.
Supplemental Surface Treatment: For the best
results for medium to high traffic interior retail floors, apply a floor sealer such as QC
INTERIOR FLOOR SEAL after applying QC CEMSEAL, then maintain using a high-speed buffing
maintenance system. If applying a topcoat other than a QC floor sealer, test in an
inconspicuous area for compatibility prior to use; if in doubt, consult QC Construction
Products.
