QC THIN-PAVE is a
specially formulated polymer modified topping and fiber reinforced mix that will bond to
any stable, structurally sound substrate. QC THIN-PAVE is a dry powder mixture that is
integrally colored with QC THIN-PAVE COLOR PACKS (utilizing a white or gray base depending
on the specific color selected) or comes pre-colored in QC THIN-PAVE PRE-COLORED MIXES.
Colors can be chosen from QC's COLOR HARDENER/RELEASE POWDER Color Chart or custom colors
can be produced. Most textured imprinting tools can be used when QC THIN-PAVE is installed
at a 3/8" (9.5 mm) thickness. QC THIN-PAVE can also be feathered to a zero edge. QC
THIN-PAVE transforms badly damaged concrete into beautiful, decorative surfaces at a
fraction of the cost of removal and replacement of the existing surface. This product is
extremely effective on interior applications where it's beneficial to delay the decorative
concrete phase of construction until major construction is completed, reducing damage to
the finished surface.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Surface Preparation - Remove any
loose/unstable paints, sealers, curing compounds, etc. or oily residues using chemical
strippers, sanding, shot blasting or otherwise mechanically preparing the surface.
Mechanical preparation requires no additional cleaning and is preferred. Proper cleaners
should be used to ensure that any residual chemicals are entirely removed from the
surface. Do not use acids. Control joints and moving / working
cracks in the existing concrete are expected to transfer through the surface of the
topping. Use QC CRACK REPAIR KIT after surface
preparation, according to manufacturer's recommendations to bridge these types of
situations and prevent the crack from appearing in the topping.
When the surface is completely dry and free of residue, QC THIN-PAVE BOND COAT may be
applied. Note: When a surface is found to be powdery or unstable due to improper
curing, finishing, etc., apply QC CEMGUARD to harden and properly stabilize the surface.
When excessive subgrade moisture/alkaline salts are present, QC CEMGUARD should also be
used according to manufactures recommendations to stabilize this condition. Testing for
this condition can be done by using a calcium chloride test kit. Test kits are available
through most flooring distributors.
QC BOND COAT Mixing and Application Instructions - QC BOND COAT is mixed
together using a 1/2" drill motor, a manufactures approved mixing paddle and mixing
container/bucket or in a mortar mixer. First, add the liquid and begin mixing. Add the
powder slowly while continuing to mix the liquid until a lump-free consistency is
achieved. Once the material is lump-free, it is ready to apply. When applying QC BOND COAT
on extremely hot days, cool the surface down by lightly misting with water. Allow the
surface to completely dry before applying the QC BOND COAT Pour and spread the material
using a manufacturers approved squeegee to uniformly cover the surface. Allow the QC BOND
COAT to completely dry before applying the QC THIN-PAVE.
QC THIN-PAVE Mixing Instructions - Water Ratio: One gallon or less when
needed per 55-pound (3.8 L per 25 kg) bag.
Uncolored Topping Mixes fixes
Mixing in buckets: Using a five-gallon (18.9 L) mixing bucket, 1/2" drill
motor and an approved mixing paddle, add a single 55-pound (25 kg) bag of QC THIN-PAVE.
Begin mixing one-gallon (3.8 L) of water while adding the topping mix. After approximately
one-third of the bag has been added, empty the entire QC COLOR PACK into the bucket and
thoroughly blend the color. Once the color is evenly dispersed, add the remainder of the
bag and continue mixing for 4-6 minutes or until a lump-free consistency is achieved.
Mixing in a mortar mixer: Add the appropriate ratio of water into the mixer according to
the size of the batch, while slowly adding the QC THIN-PAVE. After approximately one-third
of the batch has been added, empty the entire QC COLOR PACK into the mixer and thoroughly
blend the color. Once the color is evenly dispersed, add the remainder of the batch and
continue mixing for 4-6 minutes or until a lump-free consistency is achieved.
Pre-colored Topping Mixes
When mixing in a mortar mixer or a bucket, add the appropriate amount of water according
to the batch size. Begin mixing the water while slowly adding the pre-colored bag mix. Mix
thoroughly for 4-6 minutes or until a lump-free consistency is achieved.
QC THIN-PAVE Application Instructions - Place and screed the topping mix
using a manufacturer's approved gauge rake and normal concrete finishing tools to smooth
the surface. When QC THIN-PAVE reaches the plastic stage of set and is ready for the final
finish troweling, lightly mist the surface with water using a pump up type sprayer or
squirt bottle. This will act as a lubricant to keep the finishing tools working smoothly
across the surface. Do not overwork the surface, as excessive troweling may create
bubbling. If the surface is to be imprinted, do so at the proper stage of set. To
facilitate the release of imprinting tools, use QC RELEASE POWDER or QC LIQUID RELEASE.
