INSTALLATION CAUTIONS
The following cautions are applicable for installation of ITW
Ramset/Red Head products:
HEAVY DUTY ANCHORS: (Trubolt Wedge, Dynabolt Sleeve,
Multi-Set II Drop-In, Self-Drill, Stud, Non-Drill, Steel Deck Inset and Epcon Ceramic 6)
- WARNING: Always wear safety glasses and other necessary
protective devices or apparel when installing or working with anchors.
- Maintain accurate hole size for proper installation and
performance. Holes should be drilled using a bit conforming to ANSI B94.12 (except
Self-Drill).
- Safe working loads for single installations under static loading
should not exceed 25% of ultimate load capacity.
- Not recommended for use in lightweight masonry material such as
block or brick (except for Dynabolt Sleeve Anchor and Epcon Ceramic 6).
- Not recommended for use in new concrete which has not had
sufficient time to cure (except Steel Deck Insert).
- Use of core drills is not recommended to drill holes for use with
these anchors (except Ceramic 6).
LIGHT DUTY ANCHORS: (Poly-Set, Tapcon, E-Z Ancor,
Poly-Tie, Poly-Drive, Hammer-Set and Hammer-Loc)
- WARNING: Always wear safety glasses and other necessary
protective devices or apparel when installing or working with anchors.
WARRANTY AND REMEDY
All warranties of the products described herein, express or implied, including the
warranties of merchantability and fitness for particular purposes are specifically
excluded, except for the following: ITW Ramset/Red Head will repair or replace at its sole
option any tool part, or fastener which within twelve months after sale by ITW Ramset/Red
Head or its distributors, is found by ITW Ramset/Red Head to be defective in material or
workmanship, normal wear and tear excluded.
This is the sole warranty of ITW Ramset/Red Head and the sole remedy available to
distributor or buyer.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
ITW Ramset/Red Head shall not be liable for any injury, loss or damage, direct, indirect,
incidental or consequential, arising out of the use of, or the inability to use, the
products described herein.
CAUTION
Failure to follow proper safety and installation procedures can result in serious personal
injury or property damage.
TAPCON
*NOTE: Indicated pull-out and shear failure values were obtained in tests witnessed
by Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory personnel. Designated holding power depends on the
quality of the masonry material depth of embedment and proper hole size. These figures are
offered only as a guide and are not guaranteed in any way by Illinois Tool Works Inc. The
figures indicate average ultimate pull-out and shear failure values. A safety factor of
4:1 or 25% of ultimate pull-out value is generally accepted as a safe working load.
However, reference should always be made to applicable codes for the specific safe working
ratio. All values are based on close tolerance holes drilled with Ramset/Red Head Tapcon
carbide drill bits. Performance of the Tapcon® anchor may vary in extremely hard concrete
aggregates. Consult your Ramset/Red Head representative for further information.
As in the case with all applications, Ramset/Red Head can only
suggest typical fasteners for typical applications and that the connection design is the
sole responsibility of the Building Design Engineer. Architect or otherwise responsible
person charged with the design of the connection. For further product information please
contact the nearest Authorized Ramset/Red Head Distributor.
*NOTE: The fixture thickness being anchored and the depth
of embedment in the masonry material determines the anchor length. A minimum of 1"
and a maximum of 1-3/4" embedment is recommended. Hole depth must be a minimum
1/4" deeper than the anchor embedment.
Tapcon Anchors must be installed using all Ramset/Red Head
system components (Tapcon Anchors, Condrive Tools, and Tapcon Drill Bits) in order to
qualify for ITW Ramset/Red Head system support.
