| Mc 104 HOOK AND
McLOOP FASTENERS - The hook and McLoop Fasteners Wire Works System is a
more economical method of attaching clay roof tile without using nails than the Twisted
Wire Works System. Disadvantages of the Hook and McLoop Fasteners System as
compared to the Twisted Wire Works System are more restrictive slope limitations and with
some import clay roof tiles, it is NOT possible to insert the Hook and McLoop
Fastener through the tile without enlarging the nail hole. Also, it is more
difficult to work with varying random exposure and/or serpentine pattern applications,
where the Hook and McLoop Fasteners must be bent accordingly to shorten
the exposure to the weather, unless different length Hook and McLoop Fasteners are
ordered to compensate for the varying exposures. They are available in lengths of
13", 14", 15", 16", ordered to compensate for the varying exposures.
They are available in lengths of 13", 14", 15", 16", and 17" and
thus ease the installer's job by setting the head lap and exposure to the weather of the
fastener below it as shown. The type of roof deck determines the style of anchors needed.
The Wire Works, Inc. may be consulted for recommendations concerning the proper spacing of
anchors. (Please refer to #Mc102 McAnchors, #Mc105 Staples, and #Mc110 Copper Slating
Nails.) GS, C, B, SS

Used to firmly attach the #Mc 104 Hook and McLoop Fasteners Wire Works System to
a wood roof deck. Staples are 1-1/2" in length. GS, C, B,SS. |

Mc 106 CLAY TILE McHOOKS -
Also known as wind locks or tile locks. Designed specifically to prevent wind uplift and
prohibit detrimental roof tile movement. Conform to the U.B.C. Standards for high wind
areas and building heights over 40 feet as outlined in Table Nos. 32-D-1 and 32-D-2.
In the event a tile cracks or fractures below the nail hole, the Clay Tile McHook will
in most cases prevent the tile from sliding downward off the roof and perhaps injuring
someone and/or causing property damage. This is because the Clay Tile McHook secures
the butt end or nose of the tile, the front or most forward edge of the tile, while being
attached to the tile below it. Since there are NO slope limitations for Clay Tile
McHooks, they also meet the U.B.C. Standard described in Table Nos. 32-D-1 and
32-D-2 as follows: "On slopes over 24:12, the nose end of all tiles shall be securely
fastened." This makes them a good choice for mansards, especially for public projects
where there is considerable 'foot traffic' below the mansard roof. The point of attachment
also provides the tile with both a predetermined head lap and exposure to the weather.
Available for a 3" or a 4" head lap. (Chapter 32 of the U.B.C. specifies a
3" minimum head lap for ALL roof tile.)
The Variable Head Lap Clay Tile McHooks are
especially handy for installing clay two-piece traditional mission tile with a varying
random exposure and/or serpentine pattern, where a set or fixed head lap is NOT desired.
The installer bends the forward end of the Variable Head Lap Clay Tile
McHook for the desired dimension. They may sometimes be used in
a situation where a wind lock is desired as an afterthought with the tile already having
been installed with nails. If the nail heads are NOT flush with the tile, then there may
be an adequate gap to which the hooked end of a Variable Head Lap Clay Tile McHook
may be attached underneath the nail head and bent accordingly. May be used with ALL U.B.C.
recognized methods of tile attachment including the Wire Works Systems. GS, C, B, SS.
