zsch008b.jpg (6952 bytes) The car station is factory wired to contain all controls needed to meet local codes, as well as the usual operating controls. The fixture accommodates up to 63 floor selection pushbuttons and, as standard, includes function buttons with flush-mounted Braille plates, alarm, door open and door close buttons. An emergency light is also provided.

Floor/Function Buttons

The MT pushbutton/braille plate module is flush-mounted in the car station and can be quickly and easily replaced should changes in floor markings occur after the elevator installation has been completed.

Car Lantern

The car lantern is installed with a coverplate in the integral post side of the swing return. See DBS-1001a for complete details about the car lantern.

Telephone Compartment

To provide two-way communication between elevator passengers and a central building station, a telephone compartment is furnished and installed below the car operating buttons. The telephone compartment can be located in the main car station or auxiliary car station.

Firefighters' Service Buttons

Firefighters' Service (Fire Switch, Call Cancel Button and Fire Light) will be furnished when required by code.

Service Panel

A service panel with locking cover is provided in the main car stations It contains switches for :

  • Hand Operation
  • Independent Service
  • Fan
  • Light
  • Emergency Stop (when allowed by code; surface mounting of this switch may be required in some locations).

The service panel also houses a 120 Volt Ac convenience outlet, telephone jack and an emergency light test button. The service panel door is engraved with the car's capacity and a Schindler logo.

For hydraulic elevators, surface mounted keyed switches are furnished as standard in lieu of the optional locking service panel.

LED Car Position Indicator

The LED car position indicator gives the position of the elevator and the direction of travel. It uses a 2" high, 16 segment red bar matrix display. The LED characters project through a violet lens and are readable in almost any light and from almost any angle up to nearly 70 degrees from the front. It is without a cover plate and can be mounted in the swing return or cab transom with only the window showing. The fixture can display a maximum of two characters and direction arrow at a time. A direction arrow is always provided.

Auxiliary Car Station

For passenger convenience and to accelerate the registration of car calls, an auxiliary car station can be furnished for the opposite front return (in cars having center-opening doors) or in the rear return with front-and-rear-opening applications. It contains the telephone compartment and only those buttons required by passengers to operate the elevator.

Certificate Frame

A certificate frame can be furnished as a separate fixture or integral with the telephone compartment door. When furnished as a separate fixture, the frame is 8" wide by 10 1/2" high, with a 6 1/2" wide by 9" high window and is available in #4 brushed stainless steel or bronze. When integral with the telephone compartment door, the certificate frame can be provided in the same finish as the car station and with a 5" wide by 7" high window.

Restricted Access System

The following restricted access systems are available:

  • With provisions for a Card Reader Access System, the car station can be fabricated to accommodate and mount a concealed card reader device. Consult your local sales representative for specifics on card readers.
  • With a Button Access Code feature, access to restricted floors is controlled by input of preprogrammed floor button combinations.
  • Keyed switches (each locking one floor maximum), located adjacent to floor selection pushbuttons, can be provided to operate a floor lockout feature.

Telephone

An ADA compliant, hands-free telephone can be furnished in the telephone compartment or flush mounted to the front return swing panel.
