 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SEATTLE GLASS BLOCK INTRODUCES VINYL WRAP™ FRAMES
Engineered PVC frames for glass block windows

Vinyl Wrap™, a new concept in frame design, will make traditional glass block window installations a thing of the past. Developed by Seattle Glass Block, Vinyl Wrap is an engineered frame that incorporates many glazing details used in today's commercial structures.

Vinyl Wrap frames are designed to last. Made of extruded PVC to be maintenance-free, Vinyl Wrap frames will not chip, rot or peel. A built-in weep system channels condensation away from the interior frame surface. At the construction site, a builder can install the window assembly using traditional methods.

Vinyl Wrap glass block frames will provide new opportunities to the commercial and residential window marker. Vinyl Wrap blends into all of today's architectural window packages. Test markets have responded enthusiastically: designers, developers and architects have praised the new concept.

"Before we developed Vinyl Wrap, we really were in prehistoric times for glass block window installations. Everybody loved the way our windows looked, but it took some expertise to set them in place," said Brian Wright, president of Seattle Glass Block. "With Vinyl Wrap, the headaches are gone. We expect big things from this product."

Seattle Glass Block, a distributor and manufacturer of glass block products founded in 1982, is known for innovative glass block accessories. Its Stylecap finishing pieces, introduced in 1990, opened up a wide range of new architectural applications for glass block walls.

BUILDING FRIENDSHIPS ONE BLOCK AT A TIME!

"Every innovation, every achievement, every satisfied customer is the result of the efforts of our great employee team, who I think of as business partners," enthusiastically states Brian Wright, the founder of Seattle Glass Block.

Established in 1982 Seattle Glass Block introduced a pre-fabrication process, utilizing glass block, to the Seattle marketplace. Hard work, good value and superior workmanship has seen this family owned business grow to eighteen employees. Damon Mirales, project manager, is in his ninth year with Seattle Glass Block and Jackie Chelemedos, office manager is in her seventh year. Employees believe that success for Seattle Glass Block means greater personal success in their own career and lifestyle.

Genuine concern for clients and their needs propels the company. "Our customers make us think," states Brian Wright. "I give a great deal of credit to those attending the Seattle Home Show. Over the years, it has informed homeowners and this has translated into sophisticated customers who not only appreciate our current product line but also drive us to be more innovative."

Monthly meetings at Seattle Glass Block are an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and to reevaluate new product prototypes. In 1992, Seattle Glass Block created StyleCap, a finishing piece for open-ended glass block applications. By 1993, Pittsburgh-Corning, Seattle Glass Block's manufacturer, added StyleCap to its accessory line - now an industry-wide product.

Innovation occurred again in 1994 when Seattle Glass Block was one of the first to create and introduce VinylWrap, specifically designed to frame glass block as a pre-fabricated product. With VinylWrap, there is no trim work needed and installation is as easy as nailing the unit into place.

This year WoodWrap was introduced - a beautiful, although more expensive complement to the VinylWrap concept. As a frequent and highly-respected supplier to numerous Street of Dreams Homes, as well as to most of the area's finest custom home-builders, Seattle Glass Block has a sound reputation for excellence in"upscale" homes.

"Recently UL gave us a ire rating for glass block windows and architects and developers are ecstatic once they hear about this", says Brian Wright. "Currently we are supplying many multi-family builders and now there will be many more applications where the security and beauty of glass block can be utilized."

Currently, the imagination and vision of all the people at Seattle Glass Block is behind a new product application suitable for literally hundreds of thousands of homes throughout America. In the 1960's and early 1970's, many homes had amber or green decorative plastic sidelights beside the entry door. Now dated in appearance, often damaged and certainly of little protection from a security point of view, Seattle Glass Block has created a perfect solution. Using their extensive experience, the company now offers an incredible replacement product. It provides security, beauty, light transmission and is economical compared to some alternatives. "We can fit every opening: it is simple, one crew can do two jobs in a day and there is a minimum of mess or disruption during the installation which the homeowner appreciates." Mr. Wright continues, "We presented the idea at the Seattle Home Show and the vast majority of our leads were for this item."

Clearly, Seattle Glass Block is an innovative firm responding to their customer's requirements. Pittsburgh-Corning obviously agrees. They have responded with enthusiasm over the years opening national marketing opportunities for the innovative ideas of Seattle Glass Block.

With this national penetration and as sole distributor of glass block products in Montana, Washington and Alaska, the Puget Sound construction industry can be proud of the success enjoyed by this Seattle-based company and its outstanding personnel committed to "Building Friendships One Block at a Time."

Vinyl Wrap Ultra™ from Seattle Glass Block...

The Best of Both Worlds

Excellent products, great relationships in the market place. Those are the central elements in the steady, focused success Seattle Glass Block has enjoyed for the better part of two decades. And now with the addition of Vinyl Wrap Ultra™, dealers and contractors have a state-of-the-art window system which gives them a practical, thoughtful and profit-oriented package for their customers.

Since 1982 Brian Wright, President of Seattle Glass Block, and his staff of production, sales technical and customer service associates have been testing and perfecting ideas for glass block products. That steady drive of this family-owned business has produced the latest industry-leading glass block product...Vinyl Wrap Ultra™.

Vinyl Wrap Ultra™ is available either as a fully assembled window or as an easy-to-install job-site kit. Comprised of two innovative and complimentary elements...Vinyl Wrap® frame and Vinyl Stack™ spacing system...the finished product is a window with an astounding level of professional finish, durability and test proven construction. Brian Wright explains "Vinyl Wrap Ultra™ is really the perfect blending of our framing and spacing concepts. In a very real sense, when you buy a fully completed unit or the installation kit, our expertise is out there at the job because of all the technology and forethought we've done to develop Vinyl Wrap Ultra™. By accommodating their specific needs, we can help builders and installers optimize profits. They're able to do more jobs, faster, and with more versatility than is offered in any other system. The real benefit to the new Vinyl Wrap Ultra™ system is in its user-friendly quality. Jobs...start to finish can be efficiently and quite professionally completed in no time at all.

Precisely planned frame and spacers are at the heart of the Vinyl Wrap Ultra™ system. In simplest terms, Vinyl Stack™ spacers evenly and consistently separate rows of glass block. A continuous channel allows silicone to flow the entire distance between each row of glass block on the long horizontal joints, and along the much smaller vertical spacers between the sides of each block.

The very attractive flanged Vinyl Wrap® frame...available in White or Almond...surrounds your glass block to create a functional, practical and beautiful window. And because Vinyl Wrap Ultra™ is so versatile, glass block windows can be manufactured to accommodate any configuration. A number of features make Vinyl Wrap Ultra™ windows very appealing and practical Brian points out. There is expressive beauty and some unique functional properties of glass block. They allow the full impact and usefulness of natural light into a room but diffuse images for total privacy.  And these units are about as impervious to breakage as you can get while still weighing in at fifteen percent lighter than conventional, mortared glass block windows. Our combination of glass block, vinyl frame and spacers eliminates maintenance, reduces noise transmission while increasing energy efficiency by nearly 10% with a .47 U value.

Fully assembled Vinyl Wrap Ultra Windows or component kits are available directly from Seattle Glass Block or through their expanding network of dealers in key marketing areas. All inquiries about installation, pricing and availability of block sizes and patterns should be directed to Seattle Glass Block at 1-800-829-9419.
