WHO WE ARE
In 1952 Hans Shaper began the company known
as Shaper Lighting. From its beginning the company's focus was on serving the needs of
architects, designers, engineers and lighting designers. Today Shaper Lighting is a major
custom manufacturer for the US West Coast region and a national manufacturer of
specification grade, commercial quality architectural decorative fixtures.
In 1983 Shaper Lighting was purchased by two
registered architects, Randy Borden and Allen Reaves. Ownership by design professionals
has had a strong influence on Shaper's evolution. Randy and Allen have continued Shaper's
tradition of collaboration with many prominent design professionals for custom projects,
while greatly expanding our family of standard designs.
Shaper's standard products line includes
interior ceiling mounted and pendant luminaires, interior and exterior, wet listed wall
mounted fixtures, a selection of exterior bollard designs and a specialty collection of
products, the "STARTER HOUSE" line, geared to budget oriented projects. Sources
include line voltage incandescent, fluorescent and low wattage HID lamping. Wherever
possible we try to offer complete families of fixtures for all mounting conditions. All
fixtures are produced on a made-to-order basis.
Shaper fixtures are based on the fundamental
forms common to all architectural spaces. We focus on simplicity of style and attention to
proportion rather than ornamentation. Our objective is to offer timeless elements that
integrate easily into transitional and contemporary styles of design. We strive to develop
practical lighting tools that balance visual appearance, energy efficiency and effective
illumination. We select appropriate materials and construction methods with the aim of
delivering high quality and excellent value.
In recognition of the time and budget
constraints most designers face we retain the flexibility of our custom heritage by
offering extensive modifications to standards. Our short-run tailored production is a
practical alternative to the high cost and long lead time usually associated with custom
fabrication. As a collaborative partner in the design process, Shaper offers exceptional
flexibility to achieve unique design objectives for small quantities.
