  • Models GLR — ethylene glycol 40%
GLR models have been rated using a 40% ethylene glycol solution commonly used in Ice Rink applications.
The enhanced copper tube design of the GLR increases efficiency and reduces chiller size. The GLR is available in single and dual circuit design.
  • Models CNR — calcium chloride brines 20%
CNR models have been rated using a 20% CaCl2 brine solution commonly used in Ice Rink applications. Special Cupronickel enhanced tubing is utilized to reduce corrosion and increase chiller life. The CNR, like the GLR is available in single and dual circuit.

Design

Every Ice Rink Chiller has been carefully engineered to provide the kind of optimal performance required in high low, low range applications typical of Ice Rinks. A special baffle design is incorporated in both the GLR and CNR chillers to reduce the pressure drops associated with the high low conditions found in Ice Rinks and similar applications. Every chiller comes with standard features like insulation, lifting lug, and feet for easy mounting.

Selection

Standard manufactures 70 models for ranges from 1.5°F to 3°F with approaches from 7°F to 12°F Standard models and easy selection reduce response time, making budgeting and delivery fast and easy.

Ratings

Ratings are based on the following criteria:

1 ton = 12,000 Btu/hr 17°F temperature out R-22 refrigerant
0.00025ft2 hr °F/Btu additive fouling factor (total 0.0005ft2 hr °F/Btu)

Using this catalog section

  • select GLR for glycol or CNR for brine solutions
  • turn to performance data
  • select the range you desire
  • read down the desired approach column until the capacity you desire appears
  • if the exact capacity you desire does not appear, interpolate between ranges or approaches

Special units outside the range and temperatures of stock units can be selected by contacting your local representative or one of Standards sales engineers at the factory.
