1999 And Beyond Star is healthy financially, growing in market share, and building
new facilities. It doesn't get much better than this! Now, if the market will only stay
strong.
After reading a dozen different economists, I can assure
you that support can be found for any scenario you like, from continued boom times
to recession. However, whatever happens, Star will prosper - I guarantee it. How can I say
this, you ask? Here's how.
I believe Star's core group of Builders, both new and
tenured, will always get a good share of their own market. We have deliberately sought out
contractors who have a good reputation, good finances, and the highest integrity. These
people - you, that is -will continue to build a good portion of
whatever is built. I also know that Star offers great value through you to your
customer. This value will always be coveted and appreciated. So, working together, both
you and Star will thrive!
GOOD SELLING!!!

Meeting
Kwon Kim, P.E., Star's Director of Research and
Development, was a gust speaker at GALVATEC'98, in Tokyo, Japan, in September.
Kwon spoke on the subject, Economical Application
of Coated Steel Sheets for Non-Residential Construction in North America.
GALVATEC'98 is sponsored by the Iron and Steel Institute of
Japan, which is Japan's rough equivalent of the American Iron & Steel Institute
(AISI). The conference was attended by approximately 400 professionals such as steel
producers, steel users, R&D researchers and Universities from over 21 countries.
GALVATEC'98 was the fourth biannual conference of this type
to be held.
Hank Worsham, Star Builder &
Movie Star!
Hank Worsham, star Builder in Corinth, Mississippi, has an unusual
hobby...Acting! Worsham has performed for many years with his local theater company, and
has had several leading roles. But, his most visible role that he performed this
summer..."May be my last," Worsham said jokingly!
Hollywood Director Robert Altman, and his company, came to
the Corinth Little Theater seeking characters with authentic Mississippi accents to cast
for his new film, "Cookie's Fortune." Worsham was one of about
50 auditioned, that landed a speaking part!
Part of the plot is set at the Presbyterian Church in Holly
Springs, Mississippi. Worsham appears in several scenes and has several speaking lines,
including a scene where he is playing the part of Roman General in a church play, donned
in a toga! That is if he doesn't get edited on the cutting floor.
Also appearing in "Cookies Fortune" with
Worsham is Glenn Close, Ned Beatty, Patricia Neal, Chris O'Donnell, Lyle Lovett, and
Julianne Moore. The movie is expected to be released Spring'99.
Worsham will be signing autographs at the National Sales
Meeting in San Diego. Meanwhile, for now, he is keeping his day job of selling about a
million dollars of Star steel this year! |
