A Commitment to Craftmanship

General:

As a natural building material, wood is subject to unique characteristics that govern both its appearance and engineering. These factors must be thoroughly understood in order to gain the maximum benefit of wood's rich selection of textures and colors and almost unlimited variation of truss design.

Materials:

Trusses may be specified in either glued laminated timbers in accordance with ANSI/AITC A190.1 or natural solid sawn timbers in accordance with Standard Grading Rules published by West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau (WCLIB).

Available species include, but are not limited to: Douglas Fir, Alaska Yellow Cedar, Redwood and Western Red Cedar. At your request, timbers or glulams used in your trusses can be custom sealed and/or stained in our plant. Treatment of our wood members range from rough sawn, with ornate steel plates and exposed bolts and nuts - to sleek and smooth faced, with hidden plates in kerfs and recessed bolts with wood plugs to cover them.

If desired, steel gussets can be shaped to complement your project's architectural style.

Execution:

Finally the most important part of our job is knowing your project is installed correctly at the jobsite. We are available on request to consult during jobsite erection.

Building Code Acceptance:

All our materials and design applications meet or exceed standards required by all major model building codes, including International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) Building Officials and Code Administrators International (BOCA), and Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI).

Focus on Accuracy: Ease of Installation

A commitment to craftsmanship also means accuracy is of the utmost importance. As a project unfolds, actual-size patterns are made for all truss components. Wood and steel parts are then made from these patterns. In order to ensure precision, projects are double checked - once when preparing shop drawings - and again during our patternmaking process. Stringent quality control throughout fabrication means your Structural Wood Products trusses will meet intricate specifications.

Finally, we assemble in most cases all completed trusses in our factory to ensure proper assembly and guarantee they arrive at the jobsite to be hoisted perfectly into place. This reduces unnecessary work for you.

If transporting completed trusses is not possible or practical, pieces are match marked for reassembly and then readied for shipment. In both cases, you're assured that all component parts will fit.
