Toto Residential Toilets - Page 5

A DEFINING MOMENT

One Piece

Body of toilet is one complete unit. This feature allows for ease of cleaning as well as eliminates those nooks and crannies that allow germs to hide.

Two Piece

Tank and bowl are produced separately and then bolted together. Generally less expensive than one piece designs.

Skirted

The toilet base has a smooth side rather than visible trapway. This allows for ease of cleaning and sleeker styling.

Elongated Bowl

Bowl is oval shaped to provide maximum comfort and added style.

Round Bowl

Bowl is shaped in the traditional round fashion for the classic bowl look. The round bowl is perfect for bathrooms with limited space.

Trapway

The tubing formed into the base of the toilet bowl through which waste flows. The size of a trapway is critical in the performance of a toilet. The larger the trapway, the fewer chances there are for clogs.

Flush Valve

This is what releases the water held in a toilet's tank. It can be found at the bottom of the tank and is activated by the toilet's flush handle. A larger flush valve increases the water flow rate through a toilet.

Gravity Flush System

Flush system which uses nothing more than water weight to generate flushing pressure. This traditional flushing system is quiet, simple, and requires less maintenance than other complex flushing systems.

Pressure Assisted Flush System

Uses a pressurized air tank to assist the flushing process. Very noisy due to the release of compressed air and water. These systems are generally more expensive, and can require regular, costly maintenance.

CONSIDER STYLE

A toilet should do more than sit in your bathroom. The toilet should complement your bathroom's environment, making it one of the most enjoyable rooms in your house.

The first element of style one should consider is color. Make sure that the color you choose coordinates with your bathroom's color scheme, paying particular attention to lavatories, tubs, wallpaper and flooring.

Next, take the time to look at your current bathroom style. Would an elegant one piece toilet enhance your decor, or would a more traditional two piece be more in keeping with the room's tone? Do you want a high profile tank or a low profile tank? You also need to consider which bowl shape, elongated or round, would work the best with your space.

Does the toilet you are considering offer a matching lavatory? As a suite, items will be much easier to coordinate. If retrofitting, make sure you choose a toilet that will coordinate with your existing fixtures. Also look at your faucets. Are they colored, chrome or polished brass? If so, do you want them to match your toilet's trip lever?

Make sure you select a toilet that will complement your bathroom's decor. Remember, everyone has different tastes. Don't let your toilet wrongly define yours.
