Horizon Absorption Series
Made in the USA The new line of Trane Horizon two- stage steam fired absorption water chillers is the only line of two-stage absorption products designed and built in the USA. Trane designs, tests and manufactures in an ISO9001 environment in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Leadership and Quality Trane has been the market leader in absorption water chillers for over 35 years. The company has supported absorption technology through the continuous application, design and manufacture of absorption water chillers since 1959, with over 10,000 units built. Tranes commitment extends to the application of new product technology development through extensive laboratory testing. Factory-trained technicians provide start-up, maintenance and emergency service support. Efficiency The Trane Reverse Series Cycle can be as much as 5-15 percent more efficient at full load than other cycles. But full load is not the whole story. The Trane microprocessor based control (UCP2) along with variable speed pumps optimizes the machines performance at partload conditions to provide significant operating cost savings. IPLV values up to 1.35 at ARI conditions. Chilled water temperatures as low as 40 F (+4.4 C) can take advantage of lower HVAC equipment costs and reduced operating costs. Low temperature chilled water systems can improve IAQ by reducing the humidity in the occupied spaces. It also allows the designer to reduce distribution expenses such as pumps, fans and ductwork. Fully Automatic Purge System Tranes new purge system removes non-condensables from the machine continuously and automatically while logging purge information through the UCP2. This prevents damage to the machine while maintaining the machines peak performance. Automatic Crystallization Protection When/Why it Occurs Crystallization results from operating conditions that cause the solution to solidify forming salt crystals which precipitate out and eventually restrict flow. This may result in a chiller failure that is difficult to correct. Concentration control maintains solution concentrations to avoid crystallization. And, in the event of crystallization, SDR is an automatic corrective action process. Concentration Control The UCP2 concentration control adjusts the energy input for optimum solution efficiency. The strong solution concentration is typically maintained 15 degrees F (-9.4 C) from theoretical crystallization point. This is called the low temperature heat exchanger (LTHX) margin. As strong solution concentration is varied by the leaving water temperature solution flow control, the theoretical crystallization temperature is changed. The control system adjusts the energy input to maintain the LTHX temperature margin throughout the load range. |
