Simple Building Control
The Trane Tracker Stat system for light commercial buildings is designed to
make effective building control simple and affordable.
The Tracker provides microelectronic control and monitoring of HVAC systems
in new or existing buildings. Tracker communicates
on a serial communication link with packaged HVAC equipment, zone
controllers, and auxiliary points of control, creating
a total Integrated Comfort system. Tracker provides the operator with
management information and control either onsite or
from a remote location.
The three models of the Tracker Stat are the Stat 4, Stat 7, and Stat 16. Each
successive model has additional unit capacity and
feature capabilities for different building and system needs.
ICS Capability
Tracker can communicate over a data link with the following ICS units:
- VariTrac II changeover-bypass zoning system with Central Control
Panel (CCP) and VariTrac zone dampers,
- Voyager packaged HVAC rooftop units with micro controls,
- Thermostat Control Modules (TCMs) for controlling generic rooftop units,
split systems, or heat pumps, and Slave TCMs for
controlling miscellaneous loads such as fans and lights.
Front Panel Operation
Using a simple 16-button keypad and 2-line LCD, the onsite operator can
perform the following functions:
- Setpoint control allows operators to control heating and cooling
setpoints for each connected ICS device for both
the occupied and unoccupied mode.
- Time of day scheduling allows each unit or load to be individually scheduled for two ON/OFF periods per day for
each of the seven weekdays, plus separate holiday
and exception day scheduling.
- Holiday dates (up to 24) can be defined for the Tracker scheduling
program.
- Timed override allows the operator to place any area or unit in the
temporary occupied mode for up to four hours.
- Alarms and alarm log. All connected ICS devices are capable of
delivering alarms to the Tracker panel. For example,
Voyager Rooftops can alarm such things as compressor lockout or airflow
failure. The last 32 alarm events are maintained in an
alarm log for viewing at the front panel.
Additional Software Capabilities
In addition to the operator interface capabilities, the Tracker also
provides the following features:
- Powerfail protection of the clock and database information for 14 days
without using batteries.
- Automatic daylight saving time.
- Optimal start for each unit.
- Unit fan mode control (ON/AUTO) for Voyager Rooftops and TCMs.
- Language display in English, French, or Spanish.
- Temperature display in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
- Password protection of the front panel control is enabled at the factory.
Remote Operations
The Tracker system has advanced communication and operation capability via a
directly connected edit device, or remotely via an
optional internal modem. The Tracker features a standard RS-232 port for
connecting the edit terminal. All status and setup
features previously discussed are accessible through the RS-232 port or modem,
along with these additional capabilities:
- Trend logs (up to 8) are available to monitor any analog input in the
system.
- Custom alarms (up to 24) can be configured in addition to the standard
alarm list. These alarms can be configured for
automatic dial out via modem for remote alarm notification.
- Demand limiting. The Stat 16 model is capable of demand monitoring
and limiting up to 24 loads. All HVAC loads utilize temperature-compensated demand
control to insure occupant comfort. Twenty-four hour
and 35-day energy history usage logs are available to provide the operator with historical
data on kW peaks and kWh consumption.
