20-80 Ton Self-Contained Air Conditioners - Page 3

Assured Acoustical Performance

Industry Recognized Trane Design Programs to Match Self-Contained System to Your Acoustical Needs With Proven Results

  • Trane Acoustics Program (TAP) optimizes acoustics versus construction costs. TAP models total system acoustics using proven ASHRAE algorithms and empirical system and equipment performance data.
  • Trane duct design program optimizes duct design using static regain methods.

Better Acoustical Performance by Design

  • Flexible, horizontal discharge reduces or eliminates turns and complex ductwork transitions. Provides smooth airflow, reducing static pressure losses for optimum acoustical performance. Additional benefits include lower installed cost and greater airside efficiency.
  • Multiple compressor design reduces acoustical levels. Scroll compressor design smooths gas flow for quieter operation.

Trane Expertise Stands Behind Every System for Assured Results

  • The most experienced and technically qualified field sales and service organization in the industry.
  • The most complete acoustical research and testing facility in the HVAC industry.

Single Source Components for Acoustically Tuned System

  • Self-contained/VAV Units with acoustical alternatives to NC 35.
  • Advanced VAV air valve with optimized geometry provides low pressure drop and excellent acoustics and comfort at all load conditions.
  • Acoustically matched diffusers.

Save Space, Enhance Serviceability and Lower Installation Costs

How to Design a Compact Equipment Room and Improve Serviceability

1. Design for corner installation to maximize leasable, usable tenant floor space.

2. Design multiple horizontal duct outlets to smooth air flow, eliminating complex and costly duct turns and transitions. Further reduces pressure drop and improves airside efficiency.

3. Include static regain duct design. Savings of $50 to $100 per ton are common by optimizing ductwork materials. Additional benefits include:

  • Lower fan energy
  • Dramatic acoustics improvement
  • Reduced duct leakage
  • Inherently balanced at all load conditions

Result: Simplified and efficient HVAC system layout and greatly reduced installed ductwork cost.

Enhanced Serviceability with:

  • Self-supporting removable panels.
  • Quick access service panel fasteners.
  • Eye level control/service center.
  • Refrigerant line sight glasses in view during operation.
  • Two-bolt removable condenser heads for quick and easy cleaning.
  • Fan belts and grease lines at waist level for easy service. Removable cast iron headers on cleanable waterside economizer. Access panels and clearance provided to clean both DX and waterside economizer coil fins.
  • Modular design — multiple compressors and condensers are smaller and lighter and common across the product line.
