Rack For Hot Water Or Steam Coil

The rack for the hot water or steam coil is installed at the factory and mounted on the entering air side of the unit. The rack will include the coil, piping, valve, and controls wired to the unit control panel.

The coils are available in either "full height" or "reduced height" sizes. The rack will include an air distribution baffel to assure relatively even air distribution across the face of the coil. The coil inlet and outlet connections are located on the same side as the condenser water connections.

The upstream side of the coil rack incorporates a filter rack for a flat bank of 2 inch thick filters. Access for filter changeout is from the left side. The quantity and size of filters is the same as for unit mounted filters.

Hot Water Heating Coils

Standard Trane coils will be installed in the heating coil rack. Only one row versions of coil types TT, WC are acceptable.

The Trane Coil Selection Program or Trane Heating Coil Catalog should be used to select the proper coil for your application. Air temperature directly off the coil (not mixed air temperature in the case of the reduced height coil) must not exceed 104 degrees F.

Steam Heating Coils

Standard Trane coils will be installed in the heating coil rack. Only one row versions of coil type NS are acceptable.

The Trane Coil Selection Program or Trane Heating Coil Catalog should’ be used to select the proper coil for your application.

Air temperature directly off the coil (not mixed air temperature in the case of the reduced height coil) must not exceed 104 degrees F .

Mechanical Specifications

Cabinet

The unit framework shall be formed structural steel members of 14 gauge galvanized steel. Exterior panels shall be fabricated from 18 gauge galvanized steel. The unit exterior shall be painted beige with a one mil coat of paint. The fan and compressor sections shall be insulated with 1 inch of 1 pound density fiberglass insulation.

The units shall be provided with removable panels to allow service access to compressors, condensers, fan motor, fan bearings, coils and valves. Removable panels shall be secured with quick-acting fasteners. The refrigerant sight glasses shall be accessible during operation, The control panel door shall have lift-off hinges.

Flexible Horizontal Discharge

(Optional) Units shall be provided with a factory installed horizontal discharge option that permits multi-directional duct connections. The Flexible Horizontal discharge shall be insulated with 2 inches of 1 pound density fiberglass for sound attenuation.

(Optional) Discharge openings of the multi-directional horizontal discharge shall be factory cut. Discharge openings shall include duct collar transition for smooth airflow.

Compressor

Units shall have multiple compressors with independent circuits. Compressors shall be manufactured by unit manufacturer. Scroll compressors shall be heavy duty suction cooled type with suction screen, centrifugal oil pump with dirt separator, oil sight glass, oil charging valve, and crankcase heater, Protective devices for low pressure, high pressure, high discharge temperature, and motor temperature shall be provided. The compressors shall be mounted on isolators for vibration isolation.

Condenser

One condenser shall be provided for each compressor. The condensers shall be shell and tube design with removable heads and mechanically cleanable tubes. Tubes shall be 3/4 inch copper. Condenser waterside working pressure shall be 400 psig. All condenser water piping including cleanouts shall be factory installed to provide single connections for entering and leaving water.

Evaporator

The evaporator coil shall be seamless copper tubes expanded into aluminum fins. Tubes shall be 1/2 inch with internally enhanced surfaces. Coil shall have staggered tube arrangement with interlaced circuiting and no more than 14 fins per inch. The drain pan shall be fabricated of galvanized steel and be insulated with 1 inch of 1 pound density fiberglass. Drain piping including a trap shall be provided to the exterior of the unit.

Refrigerant Circuit

Refrigerant circuits shall be independent and completely piped including filter driers; sight glasses; distributors; expansion valves with adjustable superheat and external equalizer; and high pressure relief valves with 1/2 inch SAE flare connection. Unit shall be provided with adequate means of frost control, The circuits shall be tested, dehydrated and then charged with oil and refrigerant 22.
