Leadership: The Trane Air Valve

The Trane air valve is designed to offer total comfort. Total comfort means not only a comfortable environment for building occupants, but also a quiet, efficient product that is rugged and reliable for the system designer and installer.

Quiet And Efficient

1 A computer designed, carefully tested inlet with integral flow diffuser and bevelled, self-centering damper. The contoured diffuser and bevelled damper have been geometrically optimized to give Venturi-like performance. This yields:

  • Low inlet static pressure requirements.
  • Quieter operation across the full operating range.
  • Smooth, evenly distributed airflow regardless of valve position.

2 The Trane patented multipoint flow ring and linear airflow characteristics combine to provide accurate airflow sensing and stable zone control, regardless of inlet ductwork configurations.

3 Low leakage is possible without the need of gasketing or neoprene seals that wear over time. Bevelled, self-centering damper and precision cast aluminum inlet provide a mechanical seal with less than one percent leakage at four inches static pressure.

Rugged And Reliable

4 An integral electric or pneumatic actuator means no linkages, screws, pins, levers or rods to loosen, get out of adjustment or be exposed to jobsite abuse.

5 High reliability through the use of proven technology and fewer parts. Balanced thrust of airflow and actuator results in very low bearing forces. A simple yet reliable electric drive incorporates integral motor gear.

6 Rugged construction. The VariTrane air valve can withstand 20 inches of inlet static pressure!

7 Consistent quality. Aluminum die casting allows consistency in every unit. Critical manufacturing tolerances are engineered into the casting design and do not rely on factory adjustments for proper alignment and assembly.
