| Features and Benefits Shutoff Air Terminals Shutoff, Shutoff with Reheat and Dual Duct

DDC /VAV II Microprossor
1 Trane
understands that the buildings safety is critical
to you and your customer. Therefore, all shutoff units
are UL as well as CSA listed.
2 ARI
certification for the entire product line.
3 Standardization
of dimensions provides uniformity throughout the
product offering.
4 For bypass
applications, Trane provides a shutoff unit with a
static pressure controller. In this application the
shutoff unit does not control space temperature,
but simply dumps air into the plenum based on a static pressure setpoint. This unit
will control static pressure in the supply duct by
modulating the air valve open or closed.
5 Factory
provided disconnect shall break all legs of power
wiring entering the control box. An optional fuse is
available on primary leg of power wiring.
6 For critical
acoustic jobs, a sound attenuator now available for
shutoff boxes.
Leadership: Controls
Direct Digital Control
Direct digital control of VAV units (DDC/VAV is a key element in providing
intelligent, responsive building management. A single
twisted wire pair links factory-mounted VAV microprocessor controls with Tracer® building management products. Trane will also
factory mount other control companies
controllers. Precision control, flexible comfort and
after hours access are all available with Trane DDC/VAV systems. Key features of the system include:
- Advanced unit controller.
- Flexible system design.
- User-friendly interaction.
Advanced Controller
The Trane DDC/VAV controller is designed specifically for VariTrane® terminals.
Tranes circuit board failure rate is less than
one percent. Key features include:
- Complete factory mounting, calibration and check-out, assuring high reliability and quality control.
- DDC control algorithm, providing accurate, pressure independent zone temperature
control.
- Setpoints retained in editable, non-volatile software memory (no potentiometers
to field adjustor access). Preprogrammed, fail-safe
backup modes of operation.
- Self-calibrating flow measuring system maintains accuracy over controller life.

Tracer® DDC/VAV
System Layout
- Factory-mounted DDC/VAV unit controllers.
- A VAV command unit acting as a central controller for groups of VAV units.
- A high level Tracer® or generic automation system.
Although the command unit can operate alone, the
greatest benefits are realized when a Tracer building management system is providing total building management.
FIexibility
Several benefits can be realized due to system flexibility:
- On site or off site monitoring of VAV box status and editing of setpoints.
- Flexible software grouping of VAV boxes accommodates changes in building
occupancy and independently tailored operating
schedules.
- After hours tenant tracking and automatic billing using the Tracer building
management software.
- Building control strategies can be initiated from the VAV command unit or Tracer
unit. Strategies include occupied/unoccupied mode;
cooling/ heating changeover; drive VAV air valves open, closed, to minimum airflow
or maximum airflow for morning warm-up, smoke purge,
system balancing, etc.; lockout VAV unit fans; lockout VAV unit heat; and demand
limiting.
User-Friendly
A key to any automation system is in the ability for the user to quickly and efficiently access pertinent building status
information. The Trane DDC/VAV system is designed with
this ability in mind, placing the pulse of the building
at the building managers fingertips.
The Trane DDC/VAV system provides responsive building control. The flexibility
provided, efficiency gained, and most importantly, the
ease of use, permits DDC/VAV to be a control option for any building type or size.
In addition to DDC/VAV controls, the VariTrane product line is available with one of the most complete lines of pneumatic
and electronic controls in the HVAC industry. |
