Translite's Radius Rail, Liana Track, and Lightline 3000 Systems can be bent in the field. We offer factory bending for Twin Rail, Basis, and Galaxis Systems, which cannot be bent in the field. A scaled drawing or full size template must accompany an order or a request for a quotation or take off. We need to know both the radius and arc length of a curve. As a general point, whereas field bending is fine for small runs with a simple bend, more complicated architectural shapes should be done by the factory. When specifying a curved system, remember to include 25% extra track for each individual bend. That is, we can expect to get 4' 6" (1.14m) of usable track from a 6' (1.52m) length when it is bent. Be sure to plan accordingly when specifying couplers. Bent track also requires more mounting hardware than straight runs. We recommend a mounting anchor at the apex of each curve. Example: Bending the curve below from either Basis or Galaxis Track would require: Bend 1: 5.5' track x 1.25 = 6.875 (rounds up to two six foot lengths) Bend 2: 4.5' track x 1.25 = 5.625 (rounds up to one six foot length) Bend 3: 7.375' track x 1.25 = 9.21 (rounds up to two six foot lengths) for a total of five six foot lengths, or 30 feet of track. A circle with a radius of 2.5' (5 diameter) would require track to make a circle with a circumference of pie x diameter (3.14 x 5' ) which is 15.7' x 1.25' = 19.625' , which rounds up to four six foot lengths ( or 24' ) of track. Remember that for Twin Rail you need to double the amount of rail. We will assume the radius specified is to the center line between the two conductors, unless otherwise specified. We require a template for all curves with more than one radius.
