Specifications Summary

VANDE HEY-RALEIGH
ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATIONS

1. Field tile shall be Vande Hey-Raleigh (Riviera; Shake; Slate; Custom Brushed; Cotswold Stone; Spanish) style concrete roof tiles as manufactured by Vande Hey-Raleigh Mfg., Inc. Color shall be (insert color or price Group A - G. See price list). Trim tile to match color and style of field tile.

2. Field tile shall have a maximum exposure of 12" x 8-3/4" with 3" headlap for Flat and Riviera tile and a maximum exposure of 14" x 12" with 3-1/4" headlap for Spanish tile.

3. Tile shall be laid in a (random; half joint, staggered for Flat tile) (straight for Riviera tile) (straight; half joint for Spanish tile) pattern.

4. Shingles shall be (turret; English) style, color, with (smooth; brushed; shake; Cotswold; custom) surface.

5. Contractor to submit sample to architect for style and color verification prior to shipment.

6. Installation shall be in accordance with (city; state; etc.) building codes and according to manufacturer's specifications.

7. Valleys shall be laid (closed; open and grouted).

8. Tile along hips (with Spanish tile) shall be sealed with (mastic; colored grout).

9. Exposed side/edges of tile at gables shall be covered with (rake trim; gable flashing; colored grout)

10. Fasteners shall be (copper, hot dipped galvanized; stainless).

11. Underlayment: Best quality one layer 43# felt; 2 layers 30# felt; Typar 30: EPDM; Modified Bitumen or Ice and Water Shield.

12. Battens shall be notched (8" O.C.; 16" O.C.), pressure treated 1 x 2's or counter batten system.

13. Flashings shall be (16 oz. copper; lead coated copper; 3# lead; .027 aluminum; terne coated stainless steel).

14. Venting shall be (ridge venting; tile gravity vents; power vents).

15. Specifications required for (high winds or roof heights over 40 ft; heavy snow)

16. Special installation procedures apply for pitches below 4/12.

17. Quality Assurance:

A. Work must be performed by a firm with not less than 5 years of successful experience and shall have installed a minimum of five (5) projects of at least 1/2 the size of this project within the last five years.

B. Complete quality materials package is available from Vande Hey-Raleigh Mfg., Inc.

C. Vande Hey-Raleigh will arrange an instructor/technician for instruction or inspection to ensure proper installation. COMPENSATION WILL BE REQUIRED.

18. Warranty:
A. Provide a 50-year written tile warranty from the manufacturer.
B. Material and workmanship shall be guaranteed by the installation contractor for 3 years (residential) or 5 years (commercial) from the date of substantial completion.
C. Special warranty applies for pitches below 3/12.
