Open Fixtures

Open fixture rated Uni-Form^® pulse start lamps are available for all applications from 50 through 450 watts. The compact design of the Uni-Form^® formed body arc tube easily allows the introduction of a protective shroud inside the envelope. The heavy quartz shroud around the arc tube provides  containment of hot particles should a non-passive arc tube failure occur, eliminating the need to enclose the fixture for safety reasons.

The open fixture rating allows greater flexibility in design, lower fixture costs and improved maintained lumens through the elimination of glass lenses. Gone is the problem of reduced lighting efficiency due to dirt accumulation on the lens, along with potentially higher operating temperatures created with protective fixture enclosures.

Venture's^® open fixture rated lamps are designed to ensure safe operation by preventing lamping or relamping with the wrong lamp type. Open rated lamps are available with either medium or mogul bases.

Medium bases are physically smaller than mogul bases and mostly used with lower wattage lamps. Open rated medium base lamps are designed to fit into both open and enclosed fixture sockets. Their bases are identical to standard medium bases, but the lamp's glass outer jacket has a narrower glass neck than standard medium base lamps. Enclosed rated lamps cannot physically fit in open fixtures which use an extended ceramic neck socket.

Mogul bases are traditionally used for higher wattage lamps. Open rated mogul base lamps use dedicated bases to distinguish them from enclosed fixture rated lamps. These lamps can be readily identified because the base has a slightly longer central contact that requires a special socket to complete the circuit. Open rated mogul sockets are pink, as opposed to the white standard sockets, and pair with open-rated Uni-Form^® pulse start mogul base lamps. The standard center contact of the enclosed fixture rated lamp cannot reach the contact in the dedicated base.

All Venture^® Uni-Form^® pulse start open rated lamps can be operated continuously with no weekly shut-down required.
