Assembly Instructions for #25, #125 and #35 Pipe Sjyle Snowguards

I. For bolt down style brackets (Slate, Shingle and Tile Roofing)

  1. Slate, Shingle, and Concrete Tile Installation. ( #25 )
    1. Brackets can be mounted onto the plate (using the hex bolts) before or after the plate has been screwed or bolted to the roof deck.
    2. Plates should be securly bolted or screwed to the roof in place of a shingle or tile.
    3. Insert tubing through the holes in the uprights.
    4. Apply a silicone or similar sealant to the couplings ( #85 ) and turn the couplings into each end of the tubing to be joined. NOTE: Do not over tighten the coupled connection. This could strip the thread buttons
  2. Clay Tile Installation. ( #35 )
    1. Lay tile as you normally would.
    2. B. Brackets can be mounted onto the plate (using the hex bolts) before or after the plate has been screwed or bolted to the roof deck.
    3. Place the plate in the channel of the tile and bolt or screw the upper end securly to the roof deck.
    4. Insert tubing through the holes in the uprights.
    5. Apply a silicone or similar sealant to the couplings ( #85 ) and turn the couplings into each end of the tubing to be joined. NOTE: Do not over tighten the coupled connection. This could strip the thread buttons.

II. Locking Collars, End Plugs, and Ice Flags (optional

  1. Locking collars ( #65 ) should be place over each end of each line of tubing. Center the tubing on the snowguards and tighten the set screw on the collar until it no longer slips.
  2. End plugs are installed using the same method as the couplings. Set end of plug flush with end of pipe
  3. Ice flags ( #95 )should be placed over the top tube so that the long leg rests against the uphill side of both tubes. Use the carriage bolt and nut to hold the ice flag in position.

Alpine SnowGuards, Inc. will recommend bracket spacing and layout patterns based upon the information you provide. However, weather conditions and roof construction vary from project to project. The owner or architect must carefully consider factors such as anticipated snowload, roof slope, and orientation, roof construction and the area to be protected, in deciding whether the use of Alpine SnowGuards products would be appropriate. Alpine SnowGuards' assistance in your project design is limited exclusively to providing the specifications of its products. The owner or architect is solely responsible for evaluating the structure to determine its capacity to bear the retained snow loads.
