SUMMARY
A custom monumental ribbon window glazing system and standard CW250
copyright curtainwall system were chosen for the new speedway. Two
rows of ribbon windows were used for the spectator suites. The system
profile is a nominal 3 inches by 6 1/2 inches deep featuring a clear
anodized finish. Each ribbon is approximately 12 1/2 feet tall and
extends along the track for over 5/8-of-a-mile. This custom system's
glazing is offset to the front and was set from the inside to minimize
initial labor and future replacement costs. The glazing material,
a special laminated glass, was carefully tested to protect the suites
from the transmission of unusually loud noises generated at the
racetrack. Approximately 89,000 square feet of glazed area curves
around the track.
Another outstanding
feature of the building are the stair towers, which are enclosed
with the standard CW250 curtainwall system. The
framing system profile is 2 1/2 inches by 6 1/4 inches for 1/4-inch
glazing, and covers approximately 10,600 square feet. Face caps
are painted a deep blue.
