For Sl: 1inch=25.4 mm, 1 foot=304.8mm, 1 lbf/ft=N/m

Notes:

  1. 16 inch(406.4 mm) and 18 inch (457.2mm) deep beams are limited to two and three piece beams (single members are not permitted).
  2. Table values are based on uniform loads and the most restrictive of simple or continuos span. Underlined values represent load conditions controlled by a continuos span. When properly fastened together, double the table values for two piece beams or triple the values for three piece beams. Multiple members shall be connected per Figure 1 and Table 3 of this report, as applicable.
  3. Beams shall be checked for stresses under " total load" conditions and for deflections for both "live load" conditions. Design loads shall be determined in accordance with the applicable code. If deflection limits other than those on which the tables are based are applicable, design shall be based on structural calculations performed using the design values noted in Table 1of this report.
  4. Ends of joists and beams shall be held in position and continuos lateral support shall be provided along the compression edge of the joists and beams.
  5. See Table 4 of this report for required bearing length.
