36" Tempered Safety Glass is superior to 24" annealed (D.S.) glass by:
  • reducing the number of roof and wall rafters 50%; therefore reducing the cost of the glass receiving structures.
  • reducing the obstructions to the sun entering and increasing sunlight to plants.
  • reducing the overall cost of the greenhouse and providing a superior structure.
  • reducing glass laps more than 50%, providing sealed laps, and greatly reducing air infiltration.
  • reducing glass breakage and maintenance using tempered glass which has 5 to 8 times the strength and impact resistance of 1/8" - 24" wide annealed (D.S.) glass.

These SUN-MATE clear span, double tempered safety glass glazed greenhouses are used by the U.S.D.A., Appalachian Fruit Research Station. These greenhouses are equipped with fan and pad cooling and compartmentation for experiments.
