Accordion folding doors were derived from an early Chinese (200 B.C.) concept of using
ornately designed wood screens as partitions or room enclosures. These screens did not
extend to the ceiling. This concept of partitioning was later used in medieval European
cathedrals to separate the sanctuary from the church body. The primary difference from
folding screens invented 2,200 years ago and accordion folding doors developed in the 20th
Century is that the latter extend to the ceiling and are suspended from an overhead track.
The function of the modern accordion door is essentially the same as when invented in an
earlier Chinese culture.
Folding doors meet the needs of a variety of architectural applications calling for
convenience, design flexibility, space utilization and save considerable floor and wall
space providing instant walls when needed.
Recognized as the industry leader, Woodfold's product line reflects our more than four
decades of experience in manufacturing folding doors and walls. Continuous product
improvement in the past and the future assures the owner, contractor and design
professional of the best possible product.
Each Woodfold door is custom made to size and features a unique continuous pin hardware
system applied top and bottom to ensure positive controlled action.
This catalog and other supplemental literature documents available have been designed to
provide the owner, contractor and design professional with detailed information
encompassing our entire Woodfold accordion door line. It is designed to assist in the
selection of the Woodfold Series door best suited for each particular installation.
HARDWARE SYSTEM
UNIQUE HARDWARE HINGE SYSTEM
Features: An exclusive Woodfold feature, our top and bottom hardware hinge system
eliminates the stretching of the vinyl panel connectors. Woodfold's roller system is
riveted to the top steel hardware system for additional strength and durability.
Woodfold's steel hardware hinge system allows these doors to "stay put" whether
in the stacked or extended position. This metal hinge system provides rigidity and
strength while the partition or door is fully extended.
