Introduction
Yale 4500 Series Overhead Concealed Door Closers offer the
appearance conscious architect and the owner, door control that is almost completely
concealed. The closer body is concealed in the transom of the door frame. The slide
track and hold open mechanism are concealed in the top rail track and hold open mechanism
are concealed in the top rail of the door. Only the solid one piece arm is visible when
the door is open. since neither the closer body nor arm project, they greatly reduce the
potential for tampering or vandalism.
This closer features individual regulating valves for
control of closing speed, latch speed, backcheck positioning and backcheck cushioning.
Delayed action closing is also available as an added option. it also has a 50% spring
power adjustment feature. The slide track has a built in shock absorber to bring the door
to a controlled stop.

Yale 4500 Series Overhead Concealed Door Closers with non-hold open feature are
listed by Underwriters' laboratories, inc. for use with fire labeled hollow metal doors
and frames.
WHI Listing
The Yale 450 Fire Block door liner is listed with Warnock
Hersey International for use in 20 minute fire doors that are listed with WHI, when used
with the Yale 4500 Series door closer.
The combination of a 4500 Series door closer installed in a
U.L. labeled hollow metal door frame and a Yale 450 Fire Block installed in a WHI labeled
20 minute fire door, which has the tested preparation, may qualify as a 20 minute fire
door assembly.
