4500 FEATURES

Standard Features

Concealed Transom Mounting: Closer mounts in header of wood, aluminum or hollow metal frames. Minimum 4" (102mm) header required. *Wood frames usually require template considerations.

Concealed Top Rail Mounted Slide Track: Requires a minimum 2" (51mm) top rail depth and a 1-3/4" (44mm) minimum door thickness.

Concealed Arm: When door is closed. Requires a 3/8" (9.5mm) deep door cutout for arm clearance at top of door on the stop side.

Accommodates Most Door: Closer can be installed on door hung on either butt hinges, offset or center pivots. Offset and center pivots supplied by others.

Shock Absorbing Door Stop: Built into the side track. Non-hold open closers have an adjustable block and hold open closers have two springs that dead stop the door approximately 5° beyond the hold open point. Use of an auxiliary door stop is always recommended.

Hold Open Selector: In the slide track, can be set to disengage when hold open is not required. Standard screwdriver operated through a 1/2" (13mm) hole drilled in the door's top rail.

Adjustable Hold Open Tension: Increased or decreased by hex key drive adjusting screw at the spring buffer end of the slide track.

Hold Open: In 5° increments by template location of slide track. Range determined by how door is hung. Order 4510 Series.

Aluminum Alloy Shell: Lightweight with proven durability.

Rack and Pinion Operation: Assures smooth power transmission through entire opening and closing cycles.

50% Spring Power Adjustment: Power is adjustable up to 50% over minimum closing force for each closer size. Spring adjustment gear assembly adjusted by a standard screwdriver.

Adjustable Closing Speed: Independent regulating valve, hex key operated.

Adjustable Latch Speed: Independent regulating valve, hex key operated.

Adjustable Backcheck Cushioning: Independent regulating valve, hex key operated.

Adjustable Backcheck Positioning: Independent regulating valve, hex key operated.

Noncritical Valves: All control valves are noncritical and operated by a 1/8" hex key.

Non-Hold Open Arm: Arm is 13" (330mm) long with offset bend to permit 180° door opening; handed.

Hold Open Arm: Arm is 16" (406mm) long, straight. Nonhanded.

Separate Hinges/Pivots: Hinges or pivots supplied by others, therefore not packaged with door closers. With no early job site opening of closer package until closer is installed, there is no lost hardware.

Optional Features

450 Fire Block Door Liner: For use in 20 minute fire door assemblies where recognized by local authority having jurisdiction.

Adjustable Delayed Action Closing: Delays closing at any point beyond 70° of door opening. For handicapped or wheeled traffic and is available in addition to backcheck cushioning and backcheck positioning.

Accessibility Code Closer: Use the sizing charts to select a closer that will conform to the requirements of ANSI A117.1 Specifications.

Door sizing information is based on installation on standard weight doors hung on antifriction hinges or pivots and operating under normal conditions. Use next larger size closer where draft conditions exist or where door swings beyond 150°.
