The 5400 Series Cylindrical Lockset mechanism
in all functions is available in a stainless steel version (2-3/4" (70mm) backset,
1/2" (13mm) bolt throw and for doors 1-3/8" (35mm) to 2" (51mm) thick
only). These locksets are designated "5500 Series" and meet all conditions of
particularly severe service.
The stainless steel material used is 18-8 or approximately
18% chromium and 8% nickel-ANSI 300 Series. Essentially non-magnetic, these alloys boast
the highest corrosion resistance of all stainless steel alloys.
The 5500 Series Locksets are available in two variations:
1. Stainless steel lockset and trim are made
entirely of stainless steel, except for the cylinder which is made of brass. Available
trim designs are, LF, LW, MF, BR, BW & BF.
2. This lockset is also supplied with all
standard 5400 Series Trim in brass and bronze, roses are supplied with stainless steel
liners. Standard 5400 Series knobs are supplied with steel, zinc plated and dichromated
liners and shanks. Latchfront and latchbolt are brass or bronze and finished to match knob
and rose trim.
Designed for applications in marine & coastal areas,
chemical and pharmaceutical plants, food processing and packing plants, hospitals and
water purification or sewage disposal plants.
