Introduction
The T8790 & T5490 Series Touchcode 16 Electronic
Locksets are designed to provide the industrial, commercial, residential and hospitality
marketplace with mercial, residential and hospitality marketplace with reliable,
moderately priced, keyless entry (mechanical key override available). Touchcode 16 is
designed for use in interior or projected exterior environments.
Product Description
The Yale Security Touchcode 16 is a state-of-the-art
electronic keyless entry device, utilizing a keypad to allow entrance whenever a valid
combination is entered. Up to 16 users can be programmed into the lock, each unique
combination consisting of up to 8 digits.
Programming of the lock is done at the keypad where user
codes can be entered, changed or deleted. No separate programmer is required.
Touchcode 16 is a completely self-contained, battery
powered unit operating on eight (8) "AA" batteries, lasting typically 6000
operations, or one year. There are two (2) levels of low battery detection. The first
level provides an audible warning (3quick beeps) to users whenever they enter their valid
code. After the first occurrence of low battery indication, the lock will operate normally
for 250 more operations. After that, the unit will appear dead, no audible sounds and no
valid codes will work. Only the emergency code, when entered at the keypad, will operate
the lock. After the batteries are replaced, the unit will resume normal operation without
any loss of existing codes or combinations.
In the case of high frequency doors, it may be advisable to
install the Yale 1290 Battery Charger. This operational unit provides the high-traffic
Touchcode 16 user with an easy-to-use alternative to frequent battery changes. The 1290
recharges the battery via pressure contacts at the door and fame to lock front. Charging
of the battery only occurs when the door is closed.
