The 3-OPS Module supports three off premises signaling modes of
operation as follows:
— The new style reverse polarity (Fig. 1) allows the 3-OPS module to
output three independent reversing polarity signals: alarm,
supervisory, and trouble. In each case, an active condition causes
the terminal output voltage to reverse. If the central station detects a
loss of voltage, the condition is due to a line failure. When configured
for new style reverse polarity operation, the 3-OPS Module supports
a set of form ‘C’ trouble relay contacts.
— The old style reverse polarity operation (Fig. 2) has only the alarm relay
active. In the normal state, the alarm output is 24V dc current limited
to 6 mA. In the alarm state, the polarity reverses. If the panel goes
into trouble from the normal state, the 3-OPS module removes the
voltage from the output terminals and the central station detects a
trouble. Alarms always have priority over trouble conditions. Trouble
relay contacts must be configured for n.c. operation.
— The 3-OPS module can support a municipal, city-tie connection and
provides a terminal for a local energy master fire alarm box (Fig. 3).
The 3-OPS module interfaces to a 14-ohm coil and supervises the
city-tie connection for open conditions. In this application, trouble
relay contacts are configurable for n.o. or n.c. operation.
